It was wonderful welcoming so many members of the community to campus today for the all-school morning meeting we held to raise the Pride flag in honor of Pride Month! Special thanks to the brave fifth graders who spoke so eloquently about what Pride means to them and to kinder teacher Star for sharing his story. Happy Pride from our family to yours! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💫

The pre-k students have shown so much courage and growth this year, and this week brought several enriching events to cap off their study of the ocean. After spending weeks learning about the zones and layers of the oceans and the creatures that inhabit them, they traveled to the tide pools at Me Kwa Mools beach to examine crabs, sea stars, anemones, geoducks and more in their natural environments — and then they all got to dissect their very own squid! Eyes were covered, squeals were heard, and it was a great precursor to all the new experiences they’ll have when they move up to kindergarten next year.

Huge congratulations to our fourth- and fifth-grade mathletes for rocking Math Olympiad this year — especially Sybil R., who had the highest Epiphany score this year and placed in the top 20% of all elementary contenders worldwide! The other students pictured scored in the top 50% worldwide; we’re so proud of them and all the competitors for their hard work and dedication this year.

From business lessons to buddy time! It was smiles all around today when it finally came time for the second graders to give the stuffies they made as part of their economics unit to their pre-k buddies. For this culminating event, the students designed and sewed stuff animals, created logos, made business cards, and presented to family and friends at our annual Toy Expo. Huge thanks to the wonderful parent volunteers who helped the students learn to sew — and kudos to the second graders for the creativity, perseverance, and confidence they displayed!

We can’t believe we’re only 12 days out from the end of the year — and that the time is coming so soon to say goodbye to our departing fifth graders! Their signature traditions have already begun: Today, they channeled their inner Impressionists painting en plain air with Madame Z., and they recently headed to the arboretum for our annual Fifth Grade Spring Sports Day (swipe right). Still to come: French Pique-unique by the lake, the exchange of buddy books, Graduation Breakfast, Head of School for the Day…there won’t be a dry eye in the house come graduation day!

Thats a wrap on student performances for the year, and what a year it was! From the fifth grade’s Greek-inspired extravaganza to the fourth graders writing their own scripts all the way down to the kindergartners bringing down the house their very first time taking the stage, the students truly outdid themselves. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Huge thanks to all the Epiphany alumni who came back to campus to participate in our annual Middle School Panel for the outgoing fifth graders! Among their best advice:
When you get to middle school, study! 📚
Enjoy the last days of 5th grade. ❤️
Use office hours and time at middle school to do homework and get help. 🙋🏻♀️
Learn how to play volleyball, because a lot of people play and it’s a good way to make connections. 🏐
Try to make new friends, and attend events leading up to the start of school to meet new people. 🤝
Make an effort to connect with your teachers. 👩🏽🏫
Do your best but don’t stress about it! 🧘♂️
Soak up fifth grade- there is nothing like it! 💫

Bravery comes in all sizes at Epiphany School! The pre-k students made the whole school proud when they gave their first-ever presentations to family and friends after practicing with their buddies, faculty, and staff. From the Family Museums they shared to signing the words to My Only Sunshine it was amazing to see how much they’ve learned and grown this year.

The fourth graders recently took a field trip to Olympia where they toured the state capitol building and learned about its history and importance. The trip was a huge hit and a wonderful introduction to how state governments work. All rise!
