Powell Barnett Wading Pool
HELP TO OPEN OUR WADING POOL THIS SUMMER! We need to raise $13,200 by MAY 1, 2011 to open the pool from 12 - 7pm, three days/week this July and August.
Located next to one of the most popular playgrounds in the City of Seattle, the wading pool at Powell Barnett Park provides no-fee access to shallow water play and relief from summer heat for our community’s children. Sadly, the wading pool has been closed for the last two summers and is slated to remain closed for the Summer of 2011 because of continued budget cuts. Make a donation today to help

As we gear up for summer 2012 (and hopefully news about a reallocation of funding to open more pools for more equitable access), a belated thanks to Parks and Rec for extending the season at our wading pool and the other wading pools across Seattle. I hope to have more updates soon!
Seattle wading pools will stay open longer Seattle wading pools were closed so often because of the chilly summer that the Parks Department is lengthening the schedules of some of them.
I should also announce that this is my family's last Saturday at the pool (or would have been) as we are moving out of the country next week - thanks so much for everyone's support! I will continue to monitor things from afar, but would love it if someone would step up to be the PB wading pool committee coordinator - email me at [email protected]. Thanks! Melissa
What the heck? The forecast was for 75 and sunny and they didn't open the pool! Looks like, in addition to being open August 27, the Leschi Community Council will get a refund of $550...too bad we had toted all our stuff there and a bunch of friends too...;-(
Hope everyone has had a chance by now to make it to the pool. It's going to be another gorgeous day tomorrow so come on out and play in the pool!

We had a great opening day last Saturday (see CD news story below). Looks like another beautiful day today - come on out and enjoy the pool! It will be open 12-7. The boat, chairs, umbrella, pump and other inflatables are stored on site, so if you don't see them, ask the Parks& Rec attendant Pete to get them out - they are for everyone to use.
Powell Barnett Wading Pool busy on opening day Apparently, all kids in the CD need is a couple inches of water and it's playtime mayhem. The Powell Barnett Wading Pool was open July 2 for the first of many ankle-moistening Saturdays this summer, and neighborhood kids were making the most of it. Just a reminder - Saturday July 2, 12-7pm, is the first open day for the Powell Barnett Park wading pool! We will have water and soft drinks available for a minimal donation (we still have $300 to raise to pay back our loan). It's forecast to be 71 degrees and sunny - please join us for some fun in the sun!
Thanks to everyone who ate All-Purpose Pizza for the Wading Pool! We raised $400! Yay! Now only $400 to go...
