The seniors who make our Housing their home, face many changes, when they come to live here. For many, it is the first time that they have lived indoors for a long time, sometimes decades. This is a healthy change, but one that takes some getting used to.
I recall one senior in particular, “George,” who packed up his belongings and left every morning, unsure if his place would still be his, when he returned. It was only after weeks of assurance from me, that he realized that this apartment was
his very own home.
In our Senior Housing, we regularly cook together, eat together, and share stories with one another. This community creates a sense of safety, which, along with food and comfort, makes navigating changes a little easier, even during difficult circumstances.
"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 ESV

In this month’s newsletter, our Executive Director reflects on a simple moment. He shares that while food, blankets, and supplies are essential, the deeper need many of our friends express is relief from loneliness and the chance to be known. Through consistent presence and relationship, we help bring warmth that lasts far beyond a single night.

In February's newsletter, our Housing Coordinator reflects on the importance of knowing each resident by name and honoring the unique journey that brought them here. Our senior housing is home to people with vastly different pasts, different careers, families, and life experiences who now share a safe place to live.
