What a journey it has been these past few months! I am so grateful for all the support I have received and am so proud of how far I made it! A huge thank you to my family, community, and volunteers who helped me out along the way!! Unfortunately, I will not be going through to the general election, but I am confident that both Chipalo and Emijah would represent South Seattle well in Olympia.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all!

Photos from yesterday’s community meeting and fundraiser with Childcare providers! We held it at the Somali Community Services Center of Seattle run by mama Sahra Farah! Such an amazing space to be in with these hardworking women who keep our economy going!
Child care providers have long been a critical — if not underappreciated — part of the education infrastructure, and the pandemic-induced restriction on the economy has only exacerbated a system that was already facing a crisis. Job losses in this sector, a sector made up primarily by women, particularly impede an equitable recovery, as they also make it harder for parents to secure the child care they need to work.
I pledge to fight for all child care providers in Olympia!!

Happy !! I recently went to the Columbia City Night Market, where I was able to try the Shortcake Bar’s strawberry shortcakes! The team even made a dairy free version for me!
Monika Mathews is the owner of the who hosted at the night market. 😁🍨 Monika is also the owner of QueenCare in the Central district and Columbia City. She’s also the owner and executive director of the Life Enrichment Group, a community organization focusing on preparing youth academically, socially, and emotionally.
