You Will Rise Project

youwillriseproject.com Their mission is to provide a multimedia showcase for people of all ages who have been bullied to share their stories through the arts.
The You Will Rise Project was started by Linda Regula and Paul Richmond, two artists who were bullied as kids and who now use their visual voices to speak out about this horrific issue. Submissions can include visual art (paintings, drawings, sculptures, videos, etc.) as well as poetry, song lyrics, short stories, or other creative expressions that best capture their personal experiences. By giving visitors the opportunity to view these creative works, we hope to educate, instill pride, generate positive feedback, and provide online resources - all for the purposes of supporting, inspiring creative productivity, fostering respect for cultural and sexual diversity, and improving the quality of life for those who have been or are currently being bullied.
Our Pride parade crew! 🛸🌈
So much work went into this float, and seeing it finally roll through the streets surrounded by an amazing group of young artists, volunteers, and supporters made it all worthwhile.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this such a fun and meaningful day. We can’t wait to do it again next year! 💜

What an unforgettable Monterey Pride! 🌈✨
Our hearts are so full after spending the day surrounded by so much creativity, courage, and q***r joy. Watching this incredible intergalactic float come to life - and seeing the amazing young artists who built it proudly march and ride through the streets - was a reminder of just how powerful community can be.
We couldn’t be more proud of everyone who poured their talent, imagination, and heart into this project. Thank you to our wonderful partners at Art Abilities and Youth Arts Collective (YAC) for inspiring us every step of the way, and to the CommunityFoundationMontereyCo for the grant that made this entire project possible.
Most of all, thank you to every member of the You Will Rise Project team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes all week long. This was truly a community effort, and today was a beautiful celebration of what we can create when we lift each other up.
Here’s to more art, more love, more visibility, and more moments of pure q***r joy. Happy Pride! 🛸💖🌈

Beaming up the q***r joy and marching across the stars tomorrow at Monterey Pride. Our float is ready, the glitter is charged, and the galaxy is calling. See you in orbit. ✨
Four days, countless hours of painting, building, laughing, and creating… and it’s all coming together! 🛸✨🌈
Today we added more of the finishing touches, and seeing our intergalactic Pride float transform from a pile of supplies into something truly magical has been so rewarding. The creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm from everyone at Art Abilities and Youth Arts Collective (YAC) have made this project unforgettable.
Just one more day to go before Monterey Pride! We can’t wait to see this colorful crew blast off down the parade route on Saturday. See you there! 🚀💖
Day 4 and the alien invasion is officially underway! 👽🛸 Another creative morning at Art Abilities bringing our Monterey Peninsula Pride float to life, with glitter, paint, and plenty of out-of-this-world teamwork. Next stop: Youth Arts Collective (YAC) to keep the momentum going! 🚀🌈
Day 3 was a big one! 🛸✨
Between our morning session at Art Abilities and afternoon session at Youth Arts Collective (YAC), our Monterey Pride float really started taking shape. We also had the opportunity to talk with KSBW News about the project and the importance of Pride, picked up our truck and trailer, and kicked off construction on what might be the coolest part of the whole float - the UFO!
It’s amazing to see so many young artists, community members, and partners coming together to create something joyful, welcoming, and completely out of this world. 🌈🚀
