Every great story most come to an end, and so it was with Second Star Racing. We celebrated the final chapter this past weekend with some of our crew and Scott Spurlin representing JBoats Southwest at Lakewood Yacht Club where we dedicated a half-hull model of Second Star. To all our crew family, friends and supporters over the years, we hope that whenever you pass by, you'll fondly remember all the good times, and that the stories will only grow with the retelling.

One last "hurrah" for team Second Star! Two years after the fact, GBCA - Galveston Bay Cruising Association added J/122 Second Star to the Texas Navy Cup perpetual trophy for winning the Texas Offshore Racing Circuit (TORC) in 2019. Congratulations also to Andy and HeeJung Wescoat and team Harm's Way (who won even longer ago than we did), and Al Goethe and the crew of Hamburg II for winning it this year, who were also immortalized on the Cup!

A little over two year in the making, Second Star was finally added to the Bacardi Cup perpetual trophy for winning the spinnaker class in the 2018 Lakewood Yacht Club Harvest Moon Regatta.
Just one more thing to be thankful for today was that epic crew of JD Hill, Farley Fontenot, Ben Gray, Evan Smith, Jesse Fulmer, Donald Bart Kern, Bryan Taylor, David Woody, “Simba” Bruce Martin and Chris Holman.

Second Star alumni reunite aboard Matt Talton’s J/105 Amor Azul for a little one-design racing over at Fort Worth Boat Club 91st Annual Regatta. Amazing how much better a 105 performs with a forestay and a backstay, eh Jonathan McMillan?
