NCA - Update on Potential Summer and Fall Activities

Hello NCA Members,

We hope this message finds all of you well and safe during this very challenging time. Since the NCA 2020 Spring season was canceled, our staff has been continually monitoring local updates in anticipation of measures that would allow a safe return to play.

It is our understanding that SRCS board members are developing plans to reopen schools in the Fall. That large task will likely be a model for the entire county to follow, given all the variables and safety precautions under consideration. Once a formal plan has been established and that information becomes public, our club will begin to focus on NCA opportunities.

Over the past few weeks, staff members have received your inquiries about whether any Summer programs would be offered. Candidly, that would be very optimistic at this point, with all the unknowns still facing schools related to COVID transitional steps, along with the unavailability of Santa Rosa City School (SRCS) facilities.

Most likely, a best-case scenario would focus on the Fall, considering the abundance of caution SRCS will certainly take. The State has provided some guidelines for schools, yet that does not consider non-school programs wanting access to facilities, such as the NCA. The club hopes something can be worked out that will at least allow clinics and workouts. Again, it mainly centers around gym availability.

So, things remain a work-in-progress until a formal SRCS plan unfolds for the upcoming year. Once those details become public, more definitive information on upcoming NCA events can be provided. We wish there was more to share yet wanted to give our membership the latest update.

Thank you for your patience and continued support!

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of our Directors.

Take Care and continue to stay well…

NorCal Academy alumna Jessica Barbosa is currently playing for the St. Mary’s University (TX) Women’s Basketball Team (16-7, 6-5). Both an All-League and All-Empire standout at Windsor HS (2015), Jessica provided many exciting moments during her years with the NCA. After her prep career, she joined the University of Texas El Paso for a single season (2016-17) before transferring to the Rattlers team this year. Jessica’s quality skills, remarkable athleticism and great personality continue to shine, providing excellent depth to St. Mary’s basketball program.

Congratulations Jessica!
