Adoption Update! 🌼 Dahlia could barely walk when we rescued her, today, she is safe and deeply loved.

We rescued Dahlia from the Ensenada Hoarding Case where she was trapped in a house with 300 other dogs. Dahlia was covered in mange, nearly hairless and suffering from septic arthritis--a painful joint-destroying disease caused by fungi. 💔

Thankfully, we were able to provide treatment for this disease in addition to her other essential medical care and Dahlia's condition improved. Today, she is THRIVING in a home alongside CWOB alumni Romeo, who we rescued off the streets of Mexico.

This happy ending is only possible because of people like you who support our mission to save dogs in critical need. Thank you!

❤️‍🩹Now through June 15 you can double your impact on the lives of dogs like Dahlia by giving to our Hope for Healing Medical Fund. Every gift is matched!

🗨 "I wanted to reach out with an update on Dahlia. She is extraordinary.
She arrived full of so much love it defies explanation. I genuinely cannot reconcile the environment she came from with the dog who is currently trying to burrow inside my chest cavity as I write this. She is the goofiest, cuddliest, most sugar-sweet creature. She flops belly up at the slightest opportunity.

Every naughty thing she does, and she is mischievous, make no mistake, is executed as a full covert operation, and it is the most endearing thing we have ever witnessed. She is sneaky in the way that only a dog who has completely figured out that she is deeply, hopelessly loved can be.

She has also become the best friend of our other dog, Romeo. Watching them together is something truly special. They are just so lovely with each other.

Dahlia has fully settled in. She is thriving. She is healthy and happy and completely at home, lounging in hammocks in the backyard, cuddling on the couch, interrupting work-from-home days in the best possible way.

What you did for her and for us is something we will never be able to fully repay. You saved her life. And in doing so, you gave us her. We are so grateful."

✨Hope is ALWAYS possible!✨

⚠️ WARNING: Distressing Animal Rescue Case ⚠️

[Last image depicts the puppies when we rescued them from this horrific situation.]

We are in URGENT need of fosters. Last night we received word of a truly disturbing event that took place in Mexico. A lactating mother dog was on the streets and surveillance cameras caught video of her being attacked.

The mother dog was scavenging for food and knocked over a trash can. Shortly after, a man responded by racing over to her and stabbing her five times. She did not survive the attack and her puppies were left without their mother.

The man has been arrested and thankfully our incredible partners Patitas Callejeras A.C. were able to rescue the nine puppies, but they need our help. We want to provide a brighter future for these puppies, but we need fosters to help us do this.

🧡 If you are able to foster, please reach out to us. You can fill out this form directly or email us at [email protected]. The dogs will be arriving from Mexico on Wednesday, June 10.

He was found starving and completely shut down. ❤️‍🩹Today, he is full of life and ready to find a home.

Remember Beto (formerly Buddy), the 5-year-old terrier mix we rescued off the streets of Mexico last year? When we met him, he was severely malnourished, suffering from mange and infected wounds all over his body. His condition had taken a toll on him psychologically and he was completely shut down.

After months of TLC, this boy is THRIVING! ✨ Beto's beautiful brindle coat has returned and his spirit shines bright. Despite all he has been through, Beto is a well-balanced dog with a big heart. He loves playing with other dogs, running around outdoors, walking on leash, and snuggling with his people. He has a calm demeanor and does great as an office partner. Today, he is healthy, happy, and available for adoption!

His story is made possible because of YOU. Whether you engage with us here, donate, or volunteer at our shelter, you make recovery possible for dogs like Beto.

Now through June 15 you can have TWICE the impact on dogs like Beto by giving to our Hope for Healing Medical Fund. All gifts are matched!

🩺 Our mission is to help animals who need care the most, but are the least likely to receive it. We believe hope is always possible when compassion is present. Thank you for helping these dogs know love, healing, safety.

🚨 SAFE! 🚨

Our team in Mexico *just* picked up four dogs in dire need of medical attention. These sweet souls have obviously experienced immense hardship. One of them has an enormous abdominal hernia that will require surgery and all of them need essential veterinary care. We are beginning their care immediately, starting with vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, nutrition, and a lot of love.

Today, these resilient dogs are safe and in loving hands, but their road to full recovery will require ongoing medical care.

Now through June 15 you can help these dogs by giving to our Hope for Healing Medical Fund. All gifts are matched, doubling your impact on the lives of these dogs.

Come take a shelter dog trail running for Global Running Day! 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🐾

Shelby from our Marketing team has been taking dogs on the "Shelter Dog Loop" at Sonoma County Regional Parks since last winter. Maya is the 10th dog she's taken, and today, Maya set the course record on the loop! 👑 She must have heard it was Global Running Day!

Maya was recently returned to the shelter because her energy level was too high for her adopter. Turns out Maya is an athlete and loves trail running. She will be available for adoption soon and she's going to make an A+ adventure buddy!

🐾 The MexiMutts need new beds! 🐾

Meet Peter ❤️ This handsome boy was found abandoned in a box, but today he knows what safety, love, and comfort feel like.

Right now, our Home for Hope shelter in Mexico is in urgent need of Kuranda Chewproof Elevated Dog Beds. These beds are incredibly durable, easy to sanitize, and hold up well in a busy shelter environment. Every dog deserves a soft, cozy place to rest while they wait for their forever family. If you're able, please visit our wishlist and consider donating a bed to a dog in need.
