We are at the airport club, Patti enjoying a beer while I am suffering through a less than stellar ice tea.

This trip to Japan has had some interesting moments: having a ni**le rip demonstrated on me - and yes, it still hurts; having some great noodles in Asakusa; finding a new restaurant with the best Mac and cheese ever; and visiting a cat cafe that was closed.

The training with Soke and the Japanese Shihan was great. Soke’s movement is very small but generates “big control.” A special shout out to one of our students, Sage, who was called out to demonstrate and used as an Uke for the second half of Nagato’s class.

Well, it is time to make one more bathroom stop and head to the gate. At least when we arrive home, our cats will be waiting to scream at us.

Heading home from Japan - what a great trip!

I will remember my new friend Dai Shihan Yaron - and all our laughter, beer and soda with Doug and Pete at Beer Ma, Soke awarding me Dai Shihan, and Bill consuming mass quantities of alcohol.

Training with Soke and the Japanese Shihan was fantastic - and I am ready for more.
