Hello Spartan Families,

I want to invite anyone and everyone that would like to attend our first PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) meeting. We will meet on Tuesday, August 30th at 6 PM in the Slater library. I am hoping we have some parents that are willing to step forward in leadership roles and get our PTO activities and fundraising back to the levels we had before the Covid pandemic. Thank you and I hope to see many of you on Tuesday night.

Best, Mr. Tucker--

When your last day of school is Spirit/Sports Day, you wear a different jersey each period:)

Huge shout out to all our Slater students, families, and staff that endured and completed the past 15 months of challenges and triumphs. We should all be proud. Wishing our 8th graders a fabulous high school career and can’t wait to get back to normal with our current 7th graders next year. Also, we can’t wait to meet our new incoming 7th graders. Have a well deserved and restful Summer Break. Go Spartans!!

Santa Rosa American Little League > Home 01/25/2021

Hello Slater Community,

I was asked to pass along this information from Santa Rosa American Little League.

Best, Mr. Tucker

SRALL Families,
I wanted to update you on the upcoming 2021 Little League season.
The deadline to register is January 31st. We are extending the reduced sign up fees until the deadline.
All registration will be online this year at www.srall.org, and you can find the tentative league calendar on the website as well.
Here are a few key points to keep in mind as we head towards the season:
Baseball practice is currently allowed in the “Purple Tier”, even during a Regional Stay at Home Order.
Baseball games are currently allowed in the “Red Tier”.
California is scheduled to update their guidelines for sports on January 25th.
We have a plan and a schedule but we must remain flexible.
Santa Rosa American, along with every other league in our District, is committed to providing baseball for our players and families in whatever form is allowed. We do have a path to playing a season but we aren’t there yet. I want to emphasize that regardless of the status of competitive games we plan on practicing baseball and following the county’s COVID guidelines.
I think it’s fair to say that baseball is the best team sport to be playing under the current environment, and I look forward to seeing the kids outside smiling, playing catch and taking some batting practice.
Sign up at www.srall.org by January 31st!
Any questions can be sent to [email protected]
Thank you,

Russell Ponce
SRALL President

Dear Slater Parent or Guardian,

I am writing to ask for some of your valuable time to complete an online survey that will help us improve your our school. We have asked YouthTruth– a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts across the county – to conduct an anonymous survey on our behalf.

Here is why and how we are asking you to take this survey:

WHY
Inviting parents and guardians to share their perspectives and valuing their input can support family engagement efforts, which have been shown to contribute to a range of elements of student achievement including increased attendance, improved grades and social skills. Research suggests that efforts to improve school culture and student achievement should be informed by family and staff perceptions as well as student perceptions. Making informed decisions requires hearing diverse perspectives from these integral groups of stakeholders.
HOW
The Family Survey is online, and is available to take in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, or French (by selecting the language of choice from a drop-down menu in the survey itself).
The survey is compatible with any internet enabled device, including desktops, laptops, chrome books, tablets/iPads, and any mobile device that supports any of the following standard up-to-date internet browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge.
The standard survey (without additional topic modules or added custom questions) typically takes respondents about 15 minutes to complete. Each additional topic module adds about 5 minutes in length.
The survey must be completed in one sitting.

Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on January 29, 2021 by clicking this link:

http://www.ytsurvey.org/santarosafamily21

Please note:
The survey needs to be completed in one sitting (only about 15 minutes).
We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.

We sincerely thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Your response is incredibly valuable to us.

If you have any questions about the survey, or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact myself or Ms. Gage.

Sincerely,

Mr. Tucker, Principal HSMS
