A few years ago, we spent a night on the Queen Mary boat in SoCal. We made the mistake of requesting a “quiet” room. They gave us our own deck- hundreds of rooms, many unfinished, and no one else around. With no one to bother, I directed to play a little fiddle tune. This is the song from the below deck scene on the Titanic.

Last weekend the Powerhouse Ladies performed at Cloverfield Organic Farm in El Sobrante. It was a beautiful summer night and the weather was perfect. Audience members came early and walked around the gardens and picked vegetables and other produce. Then the Powerhouse Ladies performed - each with a different style of music, and then coming together for some harmonies. Even when the generator went out the last 10 minutes of the concert, it was still a magical experience and it felt like we were gathered around a campfire listening to music.

The oldest original song Jason and I wrote is called, “I may not be perfect, but I’m pretty damn good.”
We just had an argument, and I was pretty mad (although I don’t remember what it was about, since it was about 15 years ago) and my retort was the above song title.
Jason proceeded to write down that quote in his phone, and then we continued arguing.
After the dust settled, we used this quote to inspire a song. The next 2 verses aren’t true about our relationship, but they are funny. Here they are:
Verse 2: I may not be sober, but I’m not as drunk as you. I may not be sober, but I’m not as drunk as you. I need to tell you, baby, I wish you’d love me like you should.
Verse 3: I may not be faithful, but I cheat less than you. I may not be faithful, but I cheat less than you. I need to tell you, baby, I wish you’d love me like you should.
