TEC Weekly Update:
Hello everyone,
Last week during our meeting, we discussed some business: updated everyone on t-shirt/ banner statuses, field trips, and discussed ideas for possible substantial activities/workshops that could occur during or before our meeting times. Such activities might include How-To type skills, as well as time for students to work on individual or club projects.
We also discussed an idea for a separate meeting time to do such activities and workshops, which would most likely be two hours before regular meeting time and on Wednesdays.
We had a wonderful tour as well last week at Keysight! Turnout was great and Doug Knight gave us a lot to think about and learn.
Lastly, there will be no meeting next week on the 22nd of November (Thanksgiving).
Thanks everyone!
TEC Weekly Update:
Hey all,
Field Trip Updates / Reminders:
- This Friday, November 2nd, we have our Medtronic tour at 12 pm. Directions and address will come soon.
- The following Friday, November 9th, we have a tour at Keysight, tour begins at 9 am.
Club Day:
This Wednesday from 10 am to 3 pm, on Halloween, is our big Club Day! We will have a table set up in the quad where we'll have the opportunity to tell students about our club, explain what we are working on, and show off some cool demos, hopefully recruiting some new members. If anybody has anything they would want to bring to club day (like demos or gadgets) feel free to bring it to the tables. We should plan to have at least two or three people there at all times, but show up whenever you can.
Project Update:
This past Friday, we made some progress on our solar project at the makers space after our Micro-Vu field trip. We attached one of our roll-up panels to a charge controller and then hooked the charge controller to a battery, and we were successful in charging the battery. Thanks to everyone who helped out!
T-shirts / Banner:
Last week during our Thursday meeting we discussed some ideas about a high quality club banner and club t-shirts. This next meeting, we hope to have a design nailed down for the t-shirts and a quote for the banner so we can get started on asking for funds to purchase them.
See you all Wednesday!
TEC Weekly Update:
Hello everyone,
First off, a project update: we came to a consensus that we should focus our time and energy towards getting the solar panels up and running, with the design process for a solar charging system coming afterwards.
Field Trips:
- Micro-Vu has been confirmed for Friday, October 26th at 9 am, address is 7909 Conde Lane in Windsor. We are accounting for about 10 individuals.
- The optimal date for Medtronic field trip is November 2nd, but be sure to complete survey to lock down a date that works best.
- We are still working on finalizing a date for Keysight, be sure to complete that survey as well.
Also, big thanks to Peter Egerton at Alluxa for a rewarding field trip experience!
Lastly, for the Club Day taking place on Halloween from 10 am - 2 pm on campus, we are looking for participants to man the tables and set everything up; if you’re interested please complete the survey as to when you’re able to attend.
Thanks everyone!
TEC Weekly Update:
Hello everyone,
Last week, we continued our discussions on our ongoing projects: the solar charging bench and the commemorative bench. We also gathered some supplies for the projects on Friday at the maker space. We officially elected Aaron to be our treasurer this semester, as well. Lastly, be sure to respond to the emails being sent out in regards to setting up potential field trips to Medtronic, MicroVu, and Keysight; these emails contain surveys asking for preferred dates and times for these trips. Thanks everyone.
Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Fall 2018 semester of The Engineering Club (TEC)! We have had two meetings thus far, but it’s not too late to join; our meetings are held every Thursday at 2pm in the Engineering Library (1780 Shuhaw). Currently, the club has come up with an exciting semester project idea to create a solar charging table for SRJC students to charge their phones, laptops, etc. Next meeting we will establish project details and discuss some paths and new ideas for this club!
Be sure to follow our new instagram page and like our page for updates regarding projects, announcements, and meeting times.
