SRHS History Club

Another fantastic outing for the SRHS History Club. Students participated in the historic showing of the History of Santa Rosa movie premier at the Roxy theater last night. The movie was fantastic but the talk in the audience was all about how the students handled themselves with maturity and enthusiasm. Way to go History Club!

Santa Rosa history buffs and those interested in our past, come join us on September 13th at 6pm to preview and new 30 minute movie on the history of Santa Rosa. Gaye LeBaron will be there with Don Cambou the creator of this great look at yesteryear in Santa Rosa.

Hello History Club. Well schools about to start. I hope you all had a great restful summer. We have a lot on our plate this year. Seems the History Club has become the go to high school club for community service. You have built quite the reputation over the years and this year we will excede all of the previous years.

We start with a very exciting opportunity to es**rt patrons to the opening of a new 30 minute movie on Santa Rosa's history by Don Cambou and narrated by Gaye LeBaron on September 13th.

Next we will help once again on the annual History Hunt this time at the Rural Cemetery. People are just dying to participate.

We'll also have our Adobe clean-ups this year is especially exciting considering what's coming up for our favorite and almost forgotten piece of history.

That is just a taste of what is in store. There are many more opportunities awaiting us throughout the year.

Gaye LeBaron: Carrillo Adobe in Santa Rosa has had a long, sad wait for salvation The ruins of the Carrillo Adobe stand as a symbol of a community’s inability to honor its history.

History Club, it's been a great summer and we have lots of projects to work on in the coming school year. However, big news and in huge part because of your efforts the Carrillo Adobe has been nominated to be put on the National Register of Historic Places. this will give the adobe and surrounding area protection from development and we're on our way to creating some kind of park perhaps even an historic interpretation park that schools will be able to bring students to. In addition we have representatives at the UNESCO meetings in San Diego to make it a World Heritage site. History Club, YOU BUILT THIS!

History club $5 car wash and bake sale today from noon to 3 in fron of Santa Rosa High. Help us raise funds for our Human Rights Conference in the Netherlands.

Come support us for our trip to Angel Island. That is the same night as the talent show so come have a FANTASTIC DINNER and go see the show.
