Hello JADU! What is a Junior ADU? It is a separately defined, self-contained living space similar to an ADU. The big difference is that a JADU is attached and is part of the total home area, whereas an ADU is typically detached and stands apart.

A JADU provides a living experience similar to an ADU but also has the flexibility to function as its own entity or be part of the total home experience.

A JADU is significantly more cost-effective to build than a separate ADU, and can be a great alternative to explore whether building or purchasing a home.

A JADU is a wonderful option for multi-generational living, combining togetherness with comfortable spaces and independent living for all. It's also a terrific option for long and short-term guests, and could be a terrific rental if supported in your area.

Christopherson Builders offers several home designs that have JADUs designed in, or available as building options. The JADU rendered here offers a private entry from the exterior plus a door that goes into the main home which can be kept open or closed as desired. There is a sitting area, a kitchenette, a place for a stacked washer and dryer, a walk-in closet and a comfortable bath with oversized shower.

This JADU is under construction now, and it has a wonderful house to go with it.

A pre-engineered house plan with built-in options for personalization, Plan 2 offers a thoughtful starting point for creating a home that reflects the way you live.

This single-level design features an open-concept great room, dining area, generous kitchen island, walk-in pantry and a welcoming covered front porch.

What really sets this plan apart is its flexibility. Homeowners can personalize the design with options such as a larger primary shower, an expanded connection from the great room to the outdoors, or a fourth bedroom. The plan can even be configured with an additional bedroom suite for greater flexibility for guests or multigenerational living.

With 3–4 bedrooms, flexible living spaces, and multiple architectural styles available, Plan 2 provides the efficiencies of a pre-engineered design with opportunities to make it distinctly your own.

An incredibly meaningful milestone in Altadena! Our first rebuilt home has been completed, and the homeowners have received the keys to their new home! 🏡🔑❤️ We are incredibly grateful to our clients for trusting Christopherson Builders to be part of their rebuilding journey.

Their home was built using our semi-custom Plan 33, originally designed in collaboration with architectural firm WHA and personalized with the homeowners’ unique interior and exterior selections to create a home that is truly their own.
