Walk this way to safer crosswalks—and more walkable communities! What drives us?
Our federally-approved lighted warning systems help make crosswalks safer environments for pedestrians. Twenty-five years ago, LightGuard Systems® revolutionized pedestrian safety with the development of Smart Crosswalk™—the first crosswalk in-roadway warning light system of its kind. Our passion for saving lives by helping to eliminate pedestrian traffic accidents and fatalities caused by driver inattention and in limited visibility conditions. Today, Smart Crosswalk™ helps keep pedestrians safer at thousands of crossing locations across the country—creating more walkable and accessible communities, one crosswalk at a time. Our federally-approved Smart Crosswalk™ can be configured to meet the needs of any mid-block, un-signalized, public or private pedestrian crossing. A complete system typically combines amber LED in-roadway warning lights (IRWLs), durable steel or composite base plates, automatic activation bollards, a controller, flashing LED signs, and solar panels (A/C power is available). The applications for Smart Crosswalk™, when configured with flashing LED signs, remote activation devices (RADs), rapid rectangular flashing beacons (RRFBs), include: private facilities, school campuses, parking areas, warehouses, land-side airport crossings, and railroad crossings.

Safer vehicles help protect pedestrians after a conflict develops. Conspicuous, actively illuminated crossings help drivers recognize pedestrians and respond sooner.
LightGuard Systems combines LED border-enhanced warning signs, in-roadway warning lights, and reliable activation technologies to improve visibility where pedestrians and vehicles meet.
Layered protection creates safer roads for everyone.

🚴♂️ May is National Bicycle Safety Month
Creating safer streets means looking out for everyone who uses them — including cyclists.
Whether commuting, exercising, or riding with family, bicyclists are especially vulnerable at intersections, crossings, and low-visibility roadways. Driver awareness, visibility, and shared responsibility all play an important role in preventing serious incidents.
At LIGHTGUARD SYSTEMS, we believe safer communities start with better visibility and smarter roadway safety solutions.
This month is a reminder to:
✔ Slow down near crossings
✔ Stay alert for cyclists and pedestrians
✔ Put distractions away while driving
✔ Share the road responsibly
Together, we can help create safer streets for every ride.

🚗📵 April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month
Distracted driving continues to be one of the leading causes of preventable crashes in the United States.
On average, nine people are killed every day in crashes involving distracted driving.
Distractions can include:
• Texting or phone use
• Eating or drinking
• Adjusting navigation or vehicle controls
• Conversations that take focus away from driving
Even a few seconds of distraction can put drivers, passengers, and pedestrians at risk.
Putting the phone away and staying focused behind the wheel helps protect everyone on the road.
