Safari West

Last week, we took X-rays in the field of one of our Cape buffalo bulls who had been limping. No matter the size of the patient or their location, they receive the same gold-standard veterinary care.

Luckily, this guy had no significant findings on his exam or X-rays. He was diagnosed with a mild soft tissue injury and started on pain relief and anti-inflammatory medication.

Kemiri the aoudad is golden. Literally. ✨

The keepers rake up piles in her habitat… and Kemiri's mission is apparently to roll through as many of them as possible before they can be picked up. Aoudad rely heavily on scent communication, and Kemiri seems determined to make sure her signature scent is everywhere.

He still gives us that same intense stare… he's just a whole lot bigger now! Growing a little more every day.

Preventative care for Pumpkin!

Earlier this week, our veterinary and animal care teams completed a preventative health exam on Pumpkin, one of our red river hogs!

Her exam included a full physical, an abdominal ultrasound, X-rays, and a blood draw. 🩺🩸 These routine exams give our veterinary team valuable information about an animal’s overall health and help us monitor their well-being over time.
