🚜🌿 Mow Smart. Work Smart. Prevent Wildfires. ~ Corta el césped con inteligencia. Trabaja con inteligencia. Previene los incendios forestales. 🔥

🚜🌿 Mow Smart. Work Smart. Prevent Wildfires. 🔥

As temperatures rise and vegetation dries out, it's important to complete mowing, w**d trimming, and other vegetation management activities before 10 a.m. when conditions are cooler and humidity is higher.

When using lawn mowers, w**d trimmers, chainsaws, or other power tools:

✅ Start early - Finish before 10 a.m.
✅ Avoid operating equipment on hot, dry, or windy days
✅ Keep equipment well-maintained and equipped with spark arresters when required
✅ Clear the area of rocks and metal objects that could create sparks
✅ Have a shovel and water source or fire extinguisher nearby

A single spark can start a wildfire.

By taking a few precautions, you can help protect your home, community, and our landscapes.

One Less Spark = One Less Wildfire.

🚨 Over the last two days, Sonoma County agencies — including Public Infrastructure — participated in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training exercises to rehearse how departments coordinate and respond during major disasters and emergencies.

Board of Supervisors Chair Rebecca Hermosillo, Sonoma County CEO David Guhin, and Department of Emergency Management Director Jeff DuVall helped kick off the training, highlighting the importance of preparedness, coordination, and continuity of services during emergencies.

The full-day exercises brought together staff from across County divisions and partner agencies to practice communication, decision-making, resource coordination, and continuity of essential services during emergency scenarios.

During activations, different colored vests help identify staff roles and functions so incoming personnel can quickly understand responsibilities, locate information, and coordinate effectively in a fast-moving environment.

Exercises like these are an important part of ensuring Sonoma County is prepared to continue serving the public and responding effectively when disasters occur.
