📚 Banned Books Week 2026 | October 4th–10th 📚

Come check out our Banned Books Week displays on the 4th floor of Doyle Library and the 1st floor of Mahoney Library!

This Banned Books Week, we join libraries, educators, and readers in recognizing the value of free and open access to information. This year’s theme, “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read,” calls attention to efforts to remove or restrict access to books and the importance of preserving access to a wide range of voices and perspectives.

Reclaimed Myth: Unicorn
Kwanjita Umniosuk, 2026 TRASH Artist

"Myths are stories we choose to believe. Waste is a reality we choose to ignore. Reclaimed Myth: Unicorn transforms discarded plastic into a mythical creature because, like myths, transformation begins with belief. Alone, each discarded object seems ordinary and forgotten. Together, they become a unicorn, a symbol that beauty, hope, and a new life can emerge when we choose to see value where others see waste."
