🚧 Construction Update: Hopper Avenue Corridor Fire Recovery Improvements Project 🚧
June 5, 2026
Crews are wrapping up the majority of the underground water and sewer work along Hopper Avenue this week. A few remaining items will be completed to close out this phase of construction.
Beginning midweek next week, crews will begin pouring concrete for the new sidewalk on the north side of Hopper Avenue. During this time, motorists may experience brief delays as flaggers temporarily stop traffic to allow concrete trucks to safely access the work area.
The sidewalk on the north side between Coffey Lane and Skyview Drive remains closed during construction. Pedestrians are asked to use the sidewalk on the south side of Hopper Avenue, which remains open.

🚧 Construction Update: Sonoma Ave Reconstruction (Hahman Dr. to Farmers Lane) 🚧
Week of June 1, 2026
Progress is underway on Sonoma Avenue!
This week’s highlights, new pedestrian ramps and sidewalks have been installed, and paving is nearly complete on the north side, with the final stretch along the centerline underway.
Next week, once the north side is ready to safely support traffic, crews will open the newly paved north side to eastbound and westbound vehicles and close the south side to begin final paving.
As work proceeds, stay alert for changing conditions, follow posted signage, and drive cautiously through construction zones.
This project is using portland cement concrete, a durable material that helps to lower long-term maintenance costs, shorten construction timelines, reduce traffic disruptions, and extend the life of the roadway.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve Sonoma Avenue!

🚦 HAWK Signals: Do You Know How They Work? 🐦
HAWK signals, High-Intensity Activated Crosswalks, are designed to create a more comfortable mid-block crossings for pedestrians—especially near schools, parks, and trails. They improve visibility, increase driver awareness, and reduce serious crashes at key pedestrian crossings.
Current Locations:
• Montgomery Drive (across from Spring Lake Village)
• Mendocino Ave & McConnell Ave (near SRJC)
• Fulton Road (between Piner High School & Youth Community Park)
Installation of the City’s fourth HAWK signal is underway at Piner Creek Trail and Fulton Road.
