🚧 Hopper Avenue Corridor Fire Recovery Improvements Project Update

Landscaping work continues along Hopper Avenue, including improvements in the median islands and along the roadway. This work is expected to be completed by the end of October, after which plant installation can begin.

Motorists may see temporary traffic control measures, including "Road Work Ahead" signs and coned-off shoulders. Only minor impacts are expected.

Final paving is currently anticipated to take place in late October. To minimize traffic disruptions, paving will take occur overnight between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Crews will first remove the surface of the existing road before placing new asphalt.

Join students and families across Sonoma County in celebrating International Walk & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, October 7. Led locally by the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, this annual event encourages students to walk, bike, scooter, skate or roll to school while promoting healthy habits, safer routes and active transportation.

🚧 Calistoga Road Project Update | Oct. 1, 2026

Construction is continuing along Calistoga Road.

During the week of October 5, expect periodic lane closures from Monte Verde Drive to San Luis Avenue due to 16-inch water main work near Monte Verde and sewer work extending to San Luis Avenue. If traveling through the area, please use extra caution and follow all posted signage and flagger directions.

Most foundations for the new pedestrian-activated crossing beacons have been completed. The electrician is now installing pedestrian push buttons and completing other electrical work needed to activate the system.

Underground work to install the water line beneath Austin Creek has been rescheduled to begin October 12. Crews will use a jack-and-bore method, which allows the pipe to be installed underground without excavating an open trench.

Please slow down, follow all traffic controls, and remember the speed limit through the construction zone is 25 mph.

🚧 Highway 101 Bicycle & Pedestrian Overcrossing Construction Update | Sept. 30, 2026

Over the next two weeks, crews will continue drilling and pouring support piers that will form the foundation for the future bridge. Nearby residents and businesses may continue to experience construction noise and vibration during this work. Please watch for flaggers and follow all traffic control measures in the area.

Traffic Reminder ⚠️ Westbound Edwards Avenue remains closed and is expected to stay closed through spring 2027.

Work Along Elliot Avenue
• PG&E crews will continue relocating utility lines near Armory Drive through Oct. 2.
• Installation of new storm drain pipe along Elliot Avenue is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
• New traffic control measures and pedestrian barriers are now anticipated to be installed during the weeks of Oct. 12 or Oct. 19 as work transitions to the east side of Highway 101.

Join us in recognizing the Santa Rosa CityBus and Paratransit team for their dedication to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation throughout our community.

On Sept. 15, the City Council proclaimed September as National Transit Month and honored the transit professionals who help connect residents to work, school, healthcare, shopping, and more.
