This week's reading in the three-year Torah cycle is Numbers 2–3. It shows Israel ordered around God’s presence, with the Levites claimed in place of the firstborn as servants belonging to Adonai (the LORD). A parallel passage in Isaiah 8 warns that rejecting God’s instruction for occult substitutes leads only to darkness. John 6 brings these themes together: Yeshua (Jesus) is Heaven’s true Bread.
