✊🏿❤️💛💚 The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed June 19 as Juneteenth Day in Sonoma County, recognizing the significance of this day of remembrance, reflection and celebration. Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and honors the strength, resilience and enduring contributions of Black communities.

The Board also celebrates the Martin Luther King/Juneteenth Festival, a longstanding community tradition that brings people together through education, culture, music, art, food and fellowship while advancing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of justice and equality.

The 56th Annual Sonoma County MLK/Juneteenth Festival will take place on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Park (Hendley Street), in Santa Rosa — a free, family‑friendly celebration of diversity, inclusion and freedom. Learn more: https://www.sonomacountyjuneteenth.com/

As we celebrate freedom and progress, we also recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of justice, equity, inclusion and belonging for all.

Momentous day for Russian River Communities. Nearly $50 million in state funds coming in to help rebuild the aging wastewater system — which needs some serious work — serving Guerneville, Monte Rio, Rio Nido and other river communities.

Huge thanks to Supervisor Hopkins (she has been a tireless champion for this project), Russian River neighbors, Sonoma Water and Brenda Adelman for their tremendous leadership.
