What an incredible day at the BI Olympics! 🏆

We were thrilled to have 100 athletes come together to compete, connect, and celebrate everything that makes the BI community so special. The energy, teamwork, and competitive spirit made it an unforgettable day!

We’re so grateful to The Press Democrat for sharing the story and helping shine a light on this awesome event.

And a huge thank you to all of our supporters who continue to invest in Becoming Independent! Your belief in this community and your continued support help make days like this possible. We couldn’t do it without you!

About 100 athletes from Becoming Independent took to the field Friday and competed in seven different events. The 10th annual competition was followed by a luncheon.

The BI Olympics are a day filled with friendly competition, teamwork, determination, community spirit, and plenty of fun. Most importantly, it’s a chance to celebrate inclusion and the accomplishments of the people we proudly serve.

Celebrating Our Incredible DSPs!

Last week was Direct Support Professional Recognition Week, and we want to take a moment to celebrate the amazing DSPs at Becoming Independent!

Every day, our DSPs make a meaningful difference through their compassion, dedication, patience, and commitment to the people we support. You help create opportunities, build connections, encourage independence, and make everyday moments matter.

To all of our DSPs: thank you for everything you do and bring to BI each and every day!

Becoming Independent’s annual Bowl-O-Rama brought the excitement to Double Decker Lanes today! The event was filled with friendly competition, big smiles, plenty of strikes and spares, and lots of encouragement from fellow bowlers.

For the people we support, Bowl-O-Rama was about so much more than bowling. It was an opportunity to build confidence, connect with friends, cheer each other on, and celebrate their abilities in a fun and welcoming environment. Whether they were chasing a high score or simply enjoying time with friends, every bowler had a reason to celebrate.

Disability Pride Month is a time to recognize the importance of inclusion and creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

At Becoming Independent, our programs help people build confidence, develop life and job skills, foster meaningful connections, and achieve their personal goals - all while receiving the support they need to succeed.

Our Red, White, & BI Dance was a joyful celebration of freedom, friendship, and the milestones that make independence so meaningful. Whether it's learning a new skill, making new friends, or gaining confidence, every achievement deserves to be celebrated.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon filled with music, dancing, laughter, and community. Here's to celebrating independence - not just on the Fourth of July, but every day.
