Becoming Independent’s annual Bowl-O-Rama brought the excitement to Double Decker Lanes today! The event was filled with friendly competition, big smiles, plenty of strikes and spares, and lots of encouragement from fellow bowlers.

For the people we support, Bowl-O-Rama was about so much more than bowling. It was an opportunity to build confidence, connect with friends, cheer each other on, and celebrate their abilities in a fun and welcoming environment. Whether they were chasing a high score or simply enjoying time with friends, every bowler had a reason to celebrate.

Disability Pride Month is a time to recognize the importance of inclusion and creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

At Becoming Independent, our programs help people build confidence, develop life and job skills, foster meaningful connections, and achieve their personal goals - all while receiving the support they need to succeed.

"Everyone at BI is always nice to me and makes me feel good about myself." – Joel P.

We're proud to stand alongside the individuals we serve and remain committed to building a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered.

At Becoming Independent, independence isn't just something we celebrate - it's something we build every day.

Our Red, White, & BI Dance was a joyful celebration of freedom, friendship, and the milestones that make independence so meaningful. Whether it's learning a new skill, making new friends, or gaining confidence, every achievement deserves to be celebrated.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon filled with music, dancing, laughter, and community. Here's to celebrating independence - not just on the Fourth of July, but every day.

Disability Pride Month is a time to celebrate the strength, achievements, and individuality of people with disabilities while honoring the importance of choice, inclusion, and independence.

"I like Becoming Independent because it helps me keep my independence while I focus on my goals and my job. I know that I have support when I need it." - Janet R.

We're proud to support people in pursuing their goals while maintaining the independence that matters most to them. This month, and every month, we celebrate disability pride and the unique strengths of the individuals we serve.

BI's Shred Team has a new face, and we're excited to introduce Aaron!

Aaron recently joined the team through our Employment Services program, where he's building job skills, gaining hands-on work experience, and making a big impact along the way. From tackling shredding projects to learning new responsibilities, Aaron has jumped right in and become a valued part of the crew.

Give Aaron a warm welcome in the comments! 👏 We're excited to have him on the team and can't wait to see all he'll accomplish.

Last week some of the folks at BI - Matt R., Matthew R., and Ted C. - were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime experience as guests of the San Francisco Giants, watching the game from the legendary Willie McCovey booth behind home plate at Oracle Park.

For lifelong Giants fans like Matt, Ted, and Matthew, the excitement, history, and energy of the day created memories that will last forever. As Matthew put it, “I felt really special” sitting in the Willie McCovey booth.

Thank you to the San Francisco Giants for making this a Giant day to remember!
