Just putting away some completed jobs from last week!
Holy cow. I’ve been busy. But it’s been so fantastic.

It always feels good to see the pile of freshly-empty job jackets.

Look at all those NDA’s you’ll see, but never know it was me. 😂

That’s why I always say “if you live in Sonoma County or Marin County, you’ve seen my work. A lot.”

About six years ago I made these little watercolor dudes. Well. It’s gouache. Not watercolor. It’s a little bit more vibrant.

I turned them into a playing card set— there are 4 species for the 4 suits. Dogs, birds, rabbits and mice.

They were a HUGE hit for Christmas, and I had a couple decks left over. Well one just sold! Now I only have 1 left. Should I make more??

Being a graphic designer is so fun cause I can be doing the most government, paperwork, back end, forms and files stuff. While also having a gift/fun side project. It helps me stay balanced to do a couple projects here and there that are just silly or fun.

These are going off to their new home tomorrow!

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!! The first edition of my book is on its way to me. Sometime today. And I’m always SO NERVOUS. I proofed the proofs like 900 times.

I’m hoping to do some product photos. Send one copy off to the Library of Congress, make the sales page.

Maybe cry. Maybe dissociate a little.

This is 4-ish years of really hard work. 167 pages of art.

For my POP color, I chose coffee. A rich deep mixture of (almost equal parts) magenta, yellow and black and a dash of cyan (blue).

I am not a coffee drinker, but I’m married to a coffee connoisseur. My husband used to work as a barista to a local-ish chain that really cared about the artistry of coffee. It was the first job he actually really really really cared about. Before he worked there, I didn’t know much about coffee. I even teased it was “hot bean water.” Like my tea was anything besides hot leaf essence!

He fell in love with knowing where the beans were sourced from, their process, how to brew the exact right coffee. He can taste things I can not imagine in a cup of joe. He talks about acidity and depth.

It made me think of other things, and how we love to…. Curate and connoisseur small aspects of our life. We love a collection. We love to go deep. We love to appreciate!

I’ve seen it with so many things that are related with caffeine, alcohol and w**d. We love a good packaging.

It reminds me of when I was younger and I had thousands of gel pens. Sparkly packets, swirl, pastels, glow in the darks. I’d bust those out with pride and select carefully. Maybe my lip balms too. I had a texture and smell for every mood.
