Two ladies came to the ranch to buy beef and pork ribs yesterday. After I helped them out they asked if I was the owner of Blue Ox Ranch.
It took me a minute. As a 7th generation rancher, I go by a lot of titles. Like mom, cheesemonger, wife, entrepreneur, board member and one of Joe Matos' granddaughters.
"Yes. Yes I am."
These powerful women (one is running for Cotati City Council) smiled and nearly jumped over the counter.
"Well, look at that we're supporting a local, badass woman owned business!"
Now I smiled and nearly jumped over the counter.
"It's easy to forget, we get so caught up in the day to day on the ranch. It really feels good when you say it out loud though. Thanks for the reminder."

This Sunday at the Sebastopol Farmer's Market 10am to 1:30pm, we will have our first pork harvest available.
Keep an eye on our website next week, we are expanding our beef offerings and will have goat available soon as well!
