The Bilingual Education Field Specialist will provide day-to-day field implementation of LandPaths’ youth programs including: “In Our Own BackYard” (IOOBY), Inspired Forward, and Camps (held during school breaks throughout year and summer) for students of all ages. IOOBY is an award-winning, innovative field-based education and nature-immersion program for elementary youth; Inspired Forward combines education and youth leadership with nature-immersion for teens and young adults.

The Bilingual Education Field Specialist will represent LandPaths in the classroom and in the field in a manner that builds a sense of belonging and collaboration with teachers, parents, volunteers, and fellow staff members. In addition to the implementation of specifically designed environmental education curriculum, the ideal candidate also loves engaging youth in unstructured play and exploration in nature, enjoys leading nature games and crafts, singing songs, storytelling…all things camp!

This is a full-time, on-site, non-exempt position in Sonoma County. 40 hours per week; occasional evenings and weekend. Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) and cross-cultural experience and/or understanding

Do you have a passion for building diverse, healthy and whole community connected with the land? The ideal candidate is driven, personable, and creative; excels in an active work environment; is committed to equity in access to nature; and loves the outdoors.

The Community Engagement/Participación Comunitaria Lead is integral to LandPaths achieving our mission to foster a love of the land in Sonoma County. This position will: (1) implement and strengthen organization-wide community engagement, (2) cultivate relationships that encourage and support active participation in LandPaths’ programs and program delivery, (3) develop community relationships to cultivate preserves as “community hubs” and (4) support community connections with nature and each other.

The Community Engagement/Participación Comunitaria Lead will represent LandPaths during volunteer activities and participate in community-building events in a manner that builds collaboration with individuals, corporate groups, and the broader community.

This position provides leadership and expertise and is responsible for knowing and implementing community organizing and engagement best practices and providing reflections to assess and ensure the effectiveness of the program and the community experience across all initiatives.

Stars, trees, mountains: Santa Rosa outdoor youth program is using nature to combat gun violence LandPaths takes at-risk youth out of their concrete, urban environments and into the natural one, offering many their first encounters with the land

LandPaths is featured in The Guardian today! Thanks to NorCal - Public Media KRCB 104.9 reporter and UC Berkeley California Local News fellow Shandra Back for her months of work on this excellent, powerful story about New Audience Manager Danny Chaparro and our the LandPaths' team’s work to foster a love of the land with programs like Stand for the Land and Young Stewards. And thank you to LandPaths’ partners in Stand for the Land at Santa Rosa Violence Prevention.

“At a camp-out one night, Chaparro recalled a night-time walk when the students were getting rowdy and messing around. So he set them to a challenge: two minutes, no talking, just staring up at the stars.

As the students settled in, staring up at the open sky, two minutes passed, then three, four, five. Chaparro stopped the timer and let the silence expand.

Later, in a reflection circle, he asked them why they let the time stretch longer than the challenge. Many told him that “they’ve never felt that much peace”.
