Stargazer Reiki

Pride month. Due to the climate we’re in of course there’s all of the posts from bots and humans saying how there shouldn’t be a pride month. How it goes against “god.” That the month should be dedicated to something else. All of the nonsense. It gives me such an eye roll and also the thought of this narrative is exactly why it exists.

Pride month did not start with a q***r person throwing a dart at a calendar and claiming June. In 1969 - up to that point gay people being themselves, loving who they love and engaging sexually with those they’re actually attracted was illegal. In New York City there had been frequent police raids for “underground” q***r meet ups where gay people were beaten and arrested. On June 28th 1969, police did what they usually do but people had had enough. They fought back. They rioted and stood up for themselves, because being somewhere not hurting anyone else, being themselves literally in secret and not being able to be fully outward with it, they were being persecuted for a reason that was simply people being who they are. They said enough to not being safe.

Now each June we celebrate q***rness, embracing pride for ourselves or those around us that get to be themselves and love who they love. Obviously there’s still an issue in our world which is incomprehensible to me. But people still go out and celebrate their pride, the overcome that has happened, and reminding us of the growth we’ve had since.

There are multiple celebrations throughout our country that celebrate the growth, overcome and diversity of people, because for so long we had it so wrong. Opposing these is literally hopping on a train running backwards and is the reason we celebrate these things in the first place. It’s time we pause, take a breath and embrace the lessons we’ve already learned in our country’s history. It’s time we genuinely support diversity rather than using that as a buzz word. It’s time we learn from our very silly mistakes that have excluded people, persecuted people, or have made the land of the free just free to some.

Happy pride my q***r friends. You are so loved. I am proud of you and hope you are proud of you too.

Reiki is my home base.

Healing tools are gained throughout our lives. Sometimes it takes a while, sometimes we get used to coping mechanisms that don’t really serve… until we learn ones that do. For me, Reiki was a goddess send - a calling, blessing, and life pivoting tool to change my life forever.

Everything is energy. The times we live in display that in the most drastic way. We feel and feed off of the energy that’s put out, for better or for worse.

Reiki stabilizes. It brings us back to ourselves, the energy that lives within us, and allows us to simplify things by returning to the core of who we are and what we need in a gentle and aligning way.

I can’t imagine my life without it. It’s always something to come back to, to hold space and clear space all at the same time.

I want everyone to experience the power of Reiki. To know that there is always something to embrace self-care, even when it feels like all the walls are coming down around you. I’ve always searched for the feeling of “home,” a safe space to return to within myself, and Reiki has been that for me. It can be that for you too.

Today is a day for planting seeds. In olden times, people hibernated in their homes since there were no new crops in the harshness of winter, the farm animals weren’t producing milk, and it was a time of waiting for spring to come.

Sometimes, people would keep their farm animals with them in their cabins, to ensure their safety and monitor their cherished resource. February is often when animals would start producing milk and the snow may be starting to melt just enough for certain crops to start regenerating.

When this time came, it brought joy to the whole family, bringing celebration for the new hope that hardships were on their way out, and easier days are coming. This is a big reason of how Imbolc came to be.

In modern society, where resources are easily accessed, we take the opportunity to look inward and start planting our own seeds of what we want to sprout come spring. Although this is not the time to go full force into action, it’s a time of planting what we want to start bringing into fruition.
