The Plant Room has gone through quite the transformation over the years! Right after we moved into this house, I made it my workspace with all my art supplies, shipping boxes, printers, and more. Once we tore out half of the upper cabinets in the kitchen to open a wall, we needed more storage, and since this room connects to the kitchen, it made the most sense. My work area moved to the back room to make an area that was more functional for our day-to-day living. I installed cabinets with a temporary countertop (that’s still here thanks to decision paralysis). The floating shelves were a bo**er thanks to realizing my level was broken midway through the project, but I eventually got them installed without a noticeable angle lol. I found a couple of matching rattan bookshelves at the thrift store and they’ve provided even more storage, holding the microwave, kid snacks, glasses, cookbooks, and more plants!

As much as I want my house to look like it’s staged for a magazine shoot 24/7, that’s just not possible in this stage of life (if at all). So for now, the black appliances will reside on the countertops and sippy cups will be in convenient spots until further notice.

Some things still on the list for this room: I want to replace the b**b light and desperately need to remove the blinds and do a new window treatment. I also secretly want to color drench this entire room in a dark mustard (walls, cabinets, and ceiling), but we’ll see if that makes it to the top of the list anytime soon. 😏

I was thrilled to create the branding and website for The Play Studio, a brand new indoor play space and early childhood development center located in Santa Rosa Beach. They’ve opened for their soft launch, and I’ve taken the kids to play many times. Can’t wait for the next phase with more play areas coming soon! I needed a third piece of art to frame for my plant room shelf-refresh in my current fav colors of mint green, lavender, mustard, and magenta, so I decided to whip something up myself. After mulling over what the subject should be, the obvious choice was right in front of me lol.

The shelves are a constant WIP, but I’m loving the new look and pops of color! And always love seeing the pieces I’ve collected from some of my favorite artists/designers:

Yesterday marked the 8th anniversary of the inaugural Underwater Museum of Art deployment with the first Grayt Pineapple, tomorrow marks the 7th anniversary of the second deployment with Let’s Flamingle, and TODAY I got to go visit alllll 47 sculpture babies in the UMA with !

I dive the UMA at least once a year, and each time there is more and more growth and wildlife. Today’s special guests included several Goliath grouper, bat fish, flounder, snapper, tons of colorful fish I need to learn the names of, and more. Can’t wait to get back down there! 🍍🦩🐠🐟🐡🦀🪼🦑

Shout out to Walt with Dive30A for reaching out when a spot opened up on the boat and to Honk for watching Rubes last minute so I could go visit one of my favorite places! ✨

We are so smitten with our little doll baby! Big brother is just so in love and has been showering her with affection (and some truck toys). He loves looking at her “little bitty feet” and telling people “I have a baby sister!”

Baby girl is celebrating her first week here by continuing to be a very chill baby, getting all the snuggles from family, and of course putting up with another photoshoot from mom.
