The chartreuse dresses were literally perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful weekend.

Notes from February :

-Cried every day. Typical.
-Chloe. Enough said.
-started to share the things I’ve been curating for what feels like my whole life. Strange move since I don’t really associate myself with 30A or the performative lifestyle but it’s where it is.
-Excited to be back in NOLA a LOT this year.
-Eli Eli’d all Feb. Climbing up trees and staying in them. It’s hard to get him down.
-Eli thinks other people’s homes are dollhouses which is a problem because he wants to go over to our neighbors houses constantly 🤣. There is an older autistic boy in the neighborhood that was known for doing this and now mine is doing it. His OCD loops are hard.
-Location scouting w/ my girls for upcoming weddings & dreaming up new things. I’ve been terrified to dream for a year. The one thing I’m excellent at. I’ve learned a lot, but fear of other people & shame no longer stops me from doing what I was meant to do.
-Living in lala land- I want to live here but with kookily unique and creative ppl who know that change comes in community.
-Skill building: I’ve been saying this for a long time but I want to learn a trade that isn’t based on luxuries. It doesn’t work in community. The value for YOUR art is not in your community. What you can do with your hands and how you show up for people is. That’s value. My art is not valuable to people it’s unattainable for. When they say know your value it means know your value to everyone not just your “ideal client”. Also, know what makes it valuable. 30A is just status. There is little value in art. It’s been proven to me time and time again.
-Art is talking to an unhoused woman about her favorite things for an hour. Art is crying during your clients vows because you’ve been able to learn and see them. Art is your friends answering your 30,000 idea calls. Art is a man facing all of his fears and doubts to be what you want and need. Art is in the doing and in the emotions. I have a favorite Bukowski poem about this. Look it up!

What a major heartbreak for the creative community. For the Kooks. The Dark Romantics. Always so inspired by David Lynch. He always had so much to tell us without telling us much and that is all a creative needs to hear. That we are not alone in our ‘strange’ and somehow all of our strange internal villains are running parallel schemes creating, inspiring & doing. He was one of the best. To DO and REMIND US to DO. I’m reminded at this moment to use the energy I have to bring to life the visions & concepts that inspire me & not the thing that sells.

Salina en Solitude - Winter. A time for Rest & Reflection. Tranquility. Calm. I like to take a solo trip to the cabin. Sit in silence of everything except my creative mind. Where are we going. What are we doing. What do we like. What can go. What is allowed stay. Either way during winter the days look quite different. As they should. It’s set up that way.

Elena Just Launched her new website for Luxury Bridal Styling . IYKYK a stylist’s heart (and eye) always wins over any other endeavor. You can try a billion careers in life but the passion for styling will remain. For some people it’s their obsession, their hobby & their gift. They will try to work it into everything and every career. For me it’s married along with photography.
