Meet Ossi! 🐻
The lovable young cub who changes Max's whole world. A little bit about her name: “Ossi” connects to the Muskogean languages of Seminole, Creek, Chickasaw, and Choctaw. Though not typically defined as a standalone word in indigenous dictionaries, it is linked to linguistic roots associated with meanings such as “little” or “child” and/or part of a word that conveys “little,” “young,” “small,” or “little one”. Director Arix Zalace spoke with a Muskogee elder asking if “Ossi” could be used as a child’s name, similar to how some names have general meanings. Fun Fact, the voice actress who plays “Ossi” in the film also has the initials “O.C.” which makes it a fun connection for her!
Director Arix Zalace spent months immersed in the wild, tracking and documenting our local black bears. 🐻
With utmost care, he preserved their natural behaviors while studying their routines for the perfect capture.
Every breathtaking bear scene in the film is a product of this dedication—and is weaved through film magic with the actors! 🎥✨
