‘Grasslands’ is out today. A song inspired by my experiences of traveling through the American heartlands. From the bison filled grasslands of North Dakota to the open expanses of Texas and Oklahoma.
A love for the American landscape is something that transcends politics and connects us who live here, though we may not agree on much else. The other thing that might bond us together is a love for the sound of pedal steel guitar, so I was sure to include plenty of that! 🌞
The album cover photo was taken on my way up to Standing Rock, home to the Lakota people, where I lower as part of the protest encamp for four months and helped run a solar-powered recording studio during the winter month.

There’s a special resonance for us with this song. It was written by Dewey Bunnell of the band America after a journey through the deserts of the Southwest (where we live and run our studio). But the song was written in the English countryside after the trip as Bunnell was reflecting on the surreal journey through these wild lands.
Our new version is performed by an American & a Brit who fell in love with the Southwestern deserts. For both of us this song has always resonated with our own experiences. We cant wait to share it with you!
