From everyone at Santa Fe Imaging, Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful for all our patients, providers, and employees who make everything we do possible. Have a happy and safe holiday.
Great news! You can now schedule your 3T MRI at TWO locations! We offer state of the art MRI services at our main Hospital Dr location, and now at our Southside facility. Call 505-983-9350 to schedule.
PLEASE NOTE: Santa Fe Imaging is following CDC guidelines with regard to COVID safety. To this end, face masks are still required in healthcare facilities, regardless of state requirements and vaccination status.
Please come to your appointment with a properly fitted face mask, covering both nose and mouth. We appreciate your help.
While we have cause to celebrate, please remember to continue to mask up at medical facilities, whether you are vaccinated or not. We will continue to follow CDC guidelines at SFI. Thank you!
Please note! Masks are STILL required at all healthcare facilities, per CDC guidelines and NM ordinance. Please wear an appropriate face covering to all visits to Santa Fe Imaging, regardless of your vaccination status. Thank you!
Are you fully vaccinated? The DC has released new guidelines for safe activities and interactions. The good news is, you can get back to a lot of "normal" living! But remember, many people are still partially vaccinated or unvaccinated, so it is still necessary to wear masks indoors in mixed groups.
Big congratulations and happy trails to two of our dearest employees, both of whom are riding off into the lovely land of retirement!

We wish you the very best and thank you for your many years of excellent patient care, Rachel and Evelyn! đź’™

Santa Fe Imaging will be closed this Thursday for Thanksgiving. We urge you, along with other NM health officials and medical professionals, to stay home for Thanksgiving this year and reach out to non-household friends & family by phone or Zoom. Enjoy your holiday & stay safe.

11/17/2020

Please be safe this upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. We encourage you to to plan Zoom or Facetime gatherings rather than mixing households. The infographic below illustrates why mixing households, even with rapid testing, can be dangerous.
Protecting your family members is an act of love.

The science on COVID infections can be confusing, but the fact that it could be 14 days for the coronavirus to incubate is a factor that is taken into consideration when quarantines are directed.

[11/16/20]   UPDATE 11/13/2020:

Per the governor’s two week shelter-in-place order, essential medical services may continue to operate. As always, we will follow all CDC and NM DOH guidelines for COVID-safety protocols.

In an effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all patients must wear a mask, all patients will be required to answer some screening questions, and all patients will have their temperature taken before entry to the building.

Face masks must be fitted and worn over both nose and mouth. Please do NOT wear a face mask with a respirator valve, a bandana, or neck gaiter. Face shields must be worn only with an appropriate mask underneath. To avoid a delay in your service, please adhere to wearing appropriate face coverings.

When you arrive, if you are being tested for Coronavirus in advance of a surgical procedure, please provide both the surgeon’s name, and the date of your surgery for our records, and for verification, if necessary.

If you are being tested for Coronavirus because of any other reason, we will require a negative result either in writing, or from the NMDOH website. Please be prepared to provide this info to expedite your service.

If you have traveled outside of New Mexico, the US, or have arrived from another state, in the last two weeks, please notify our staff and we will schedule you 14 days from your return to the state.

If you have a fever, cough, gastrointestinal symptoms, or any other symptoms of illness, we ask that you stay home, and schedule once you have recovered.

Thank you for supporting Santa Fe Imaging’s efforts to continue care, and our dedication to keeping the community safe.

[05/14/20]   Here are a few ultrasound "firsts" for you on this fair Thursday:

•John J. Wild (1914 – 2009) is credited as being the Father of Medical Ultrasound. He is best known for using ultrasound to diagnose cancer.

•In 1942, Dr. Karl Dussik first used ultrasound to diagnose brain tumors.

•Ian Donald, a Scottish obstetrician, used ultrasound in 1957 to detect abdominal masses, marking the first time it was used in obstetrics and gynecology.

[05/13/20]   Today's interesting ultrasound fact:

Humans cannot hear ultrasound waves as these have a high frequency, but dogs and cats can!

[05/11/20]   COVID-19 POLICY & PROCEDURE UPDATE:

UPDATE 5/11/2020: Santa Fe Imaging is now open to all services. We will continue to follow the guidelines put in place by the Governor.

We will be open Mon-Fri 7AM-5PM. MRI, X-ray, and Ultrasound services will be offered on Saturdays until noon. We will be closed on Sunday. We continue to stagger our staff in order to maintain physical distancing.

Please remember to come to your appointments alone (unless you need assistance), 20 minutes prior to your scheduled exam, and maintain at least 6′ distance from others.

At this time, we are asking all patients to wear a mask, or other suitable face protection, to their appointment.

Santa Fe Imaging will begin taking the temperature of all incoming individuals. Santa Fe Imaging reserves the right to turn away any individual. We understand this may upset some people. We apologize for this inconvenience, however we feel the best way to contain COVID and to return to normal, is by erring on the side of caution.

To ensure the safety of our patients and staff, we are unable to accept walk-in chest x-rays at this time. Please call to schedule these, we will screen you for appropriateness, and schedule you if we can. Effective immediately, Santa Fe Imaging will treat ANY PATIENT with a cough and/or fever as if they have COVID-19. Thank you for supporting Santa Fe Imaging’s efforts to keep the community safe while continuing care.
Please call 505-983-9350 for questions or to be scheduled.

[05/11/20]   Good morning! This week we will be bringing you some interesting and little known facts about ultrasound technology. Please enjoy!

Your Monday ultrasound fact:

Ultrasound has been around since 1794, when Italian physiologist Lazzaro Spallanzani began studying the way bats navigated in the dark. This understanding became the basis for modern ultrasound physics.

[04/24/20]   One more MRI fact for the week! We hope you have a good weekend-- stay safe.

YOU'RE SURROUNDED BY COLD

You might not be able to tell the temperature difference when you’re in the MRI scan, but there’s some very cold stuff nearby. The MRI magnets become more efficient when they’re cooked, and using liquid helium creates superconducting magnets.

The magnets are cooled to just above absolute zero. Absolute zero is the -459.67 degrees Fahrenheit, the coldest temperature possible before all molecular activity essentially stops. Typically the magnets are cooled to -454 degrees Fahrenheit, which is just a degree warmer than what you’d experience in the depths of space!
