This house is the result of 30 months of planning and construction with an incredible team and wonderful clients. The house we are participating with for the Parade of Homes this year counts with radiant cooled ceiling (see infrared photo here) radiant heat floors, no gas meter, all electric, solar panels on the roof, this project is carbon neutral. Come and check it out this weekend!

Praxis is a Design-Build Firm in Santa Fe, NM is seeking to hire a residential Design and Construction Project Manager.
The successful candidate will become part of a five-to-ten person management team. You will be managing residential design and construction projects helping our positive, engaged and trusting clientele make their Santa Fe dream come true. Your work and responsibility will begin with the bold strokes of Schematic Design and carry forward until every punchlist item is resolved and the client is thrilled. You will be expected to create highly specific design documents on two to three new homes simultaneously with managing client facing communication, cost, macro scheduling and procurement on one to two construction projects.
As a designer, you will be expected to demonstrate proficiency with Autocad and Sketchup in order to create architecture which can be delivered on time and with our clients’ budgets. You will need to be able to understand and work withing a system of standards which allows the entire Praxis team to work together, help each other, and stay oriented to every project in the office.
Daily construction tasks will include using MS Office tools, site visits, phone and texts to communicate expectations with Praxis construction superintendents and field crew, help with bidding, selection and communicate with subcontractors, ordering materials and fixtures as well as the preparation and presentation of construction contracts and change orders.
Balancing competing priorities to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously is a must. Knowledge of Spanish would be a plus. This job must be performed in-person in Santa Fe working predominantly from our beautiful office space. Very happy to announce that Praxis won the Grand Prize - "Excellence in Remodeling" at the 2022 Remodelers showcase with the Sunset Terrace Residence. Sharing a couple of photos from the Sunset Terrace project with the black and white before the remodeling version.

New framing, and completely new plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems create the bones which will support this house and make its occupants comfortable for the next century. Timeless new finishes and appointments are applied over these new bones by Santa Fe’s finest craftsmen. Beautiful beams in the high ceiling areas replaced the old, dark, low ceilings. Steel troweled plaster bring life and the hand of the craftsmen into the finished space. Wall-wash skylights highlight the interior of the house, the beautiful finish of the plaster and the art which decorates these walls. Very large format floor tile throughout offers a long lasting, beautiful finish with minimal grout.

A custom home wouldn’t be custom without a few special details. The humidified guitar cabinet which can hold twenty guitars displays these beautiful instruments, preserves them and becomes a center piece for the small entertainment room. Endcap shelves hold a vinyl record collection in the dining area. Patio planters create kitchen gardens and flower gardens where they are convenient to daily comings and goings and protected from wildlife as well as create a beautiful guardrail for the patio.

We are starting the week with professional photos of the most recent project: Sunset Terrace

This remodel was designed for cooking, eating and making music in large and small gatherings which flow organically through the kitchen, dining and living rooms and onto the terrace. Scraped nearly to the foundation, only the walls of the garage remained. We reconfigured the low small kitchen and living room into a large high-ceilinged great room. The new expansive terrace replaced a rickety and rotten deck and now offers outdoor dining, lots of banco seating, a fire feature, bar-b-que and beautiful steel built-in planters with a heart stopping sunset views over the city lights all the way to Mr. Taylor.
