Mellow Velo

The French have always been my first love. It was on a Sunday in July, 1985, home sick on the couch in the Summertime. I turned on Channel 2, and this race from France was on - the young American Greg LeMond, trying to dethrone Bernard Hinault, the French legend, “the Badger” to his opponents.
My mom came in from the other room, tea, a piece of toast. I was sitting up now.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” I said to her. The Tour de France on TV is a love song to the beauty of the country, sure there was a race happening - but it was the back drop that I fell in love with - the racers came and went - but every year, now matter who or when, there was always France. So it will end as it began - on a Sunday in July, in the name, and the spirit of liberation. Thank you Santa Fe - for all of your support, all of these years. Keep your eyes peeled for phoenixes rising from ashes - because that’s just what they do.

First customer in the door today, and let me tell you, the T-shirt is not an accident! XXL demo for a guy 6’5” traveling from Seattle with his 8 year old. “We did 20 miles this morning,” he exclaimed. “I never get a big bike like this when I travel…” nice way to start Monday! Thanks Jacob!

Not gonna lie, when we first saw this .bicycles the Winter, we all gasped, looked at eachother and said, “we couldn’t…”
Well, f**k it, we did.
Every household should have one - ready with a basket up front, no saddle to adjust… fast and fun. These are available for rent - we have 5… fun party on bikes…don’t be shocked when you see these around town - kinda hard to miss!!!

Rolling into the new year - cold days - leftover bolognese - gonna get on those rollers between phone calls - fun offseason goal talk - trips abroad - trips on the train East and West - playing cards in the dining car.
All of us, or maybe some of us, need to pull the bike out, dust her off after a little downtime, and figure out how to restart the year with bike fine tuned. Now’s the time, people… bring that bike in, let’s talk… cuz that line starts forming again, real soon, and then everyone has to wait again. Just sayin’ 😉 snow so good, let’s all make the most of this beautiful time of year!
