Working with the team at the Wildfire Resiliency Training Center, our Watershed Crew members got certified as fire fighters, helped the USFS assess fire impacted campgrounds and help them reopen, and built amazing rock and wood structures to restore a highly visible and steep slope. The partnership with Forest Stewards Guild, the US Forest Service, and Hermits Peak Watershed Alliance was fantastic! See some of the work and hear the interns share what they learned!

Day 2 on the Rio Santa Fe building more Zuni bowls to slow stormwater surges coming from outfalls that crank hard during heavy rains (go monsoons!). Thanks to City of Santa Fe, Urban Alchemy, and the great crew for our Santa Fe Watershed Academy!

For the first time one week ago to the day all members of the four youth crews in the Watershed Academy got to raft, many for the first time ever. We had a blast -- shout out to Far Flung Adventures and the Outdoor Equity grant program that makes these experieces accessible to people from diverse backgrounds!!!

Shout out to intern Jesus Horta who learned with us, Mori, Julie and so many others to have at the Santa Fe Watershed Association. Now he still seeks learning, can share very skillfully and educational settings, and is leading with such courage and curiosity!

Peñasco and Santa Fe crews monitored pre-restoration conditions at a fen wetland (artesian pressure pushes water up and creates a peat bog) in the Zuni mountains in partnership with Cibola National Forest, New Mexico Environment Department and the Forest Stewards Guild. I see several watershed superheroes coming out of this group already!!!

Just before seeking to find the rare Bog Violet, the Watershed crews from Las Vegas, Pecos and Santa Fe meet up at Holy Ghost, in search of the main food source for the endangered Silver Spot Butterfly. Thanks to the great work of the Santa Fe National Forest for the materials to train these to keep an eye on the small things and all things connected to protect our watersheds. So honored to work with and learn along these amazing youth!
