It’s been so impactful that VCA Charities has introduced DDO to 60 shelters across the U.S. (and growing), resulting in nearly 30,000 field trips with a 97% positive outcome—rescue, foster, or adoption. Archie’s DNA results are CRAZY!!! Which breed was the wildest to you?!

We ran Archie’s DNA test expecting a typical rescue-dog mix (+ some greyhound?)… But his ancestry is one of the wildest I’ve seen. Perhaps his exotic breed mix is endemic to The Bahamas? This week, the teams at and Alaska Rural Veterinary Outreach (ARVO) set up a full mobile vet clinic in Nome, Alaska and flew dogs in from tiny remote villages to get the care they’ve never had access to—spay/neuter, vaccines, full exams, injury treatment, even surgical procedures.

The closest veterinarian is 1,000+ miles away, and most of the villages here are only accessible by small airplane. So for many of these dogs, this clinic will be the first and only time they ever see a veterinarian in their entire lives. Some dogs had infections. One had been shot in the leg. Another had a tumor removed from his ear. A few were surrendered. But most were flown back home the next day—healthier and safer than they arrived.
