The drugs were never the problem.
Vechi on the Justin McMillen Podcast, speaking on the misconception that keeps families stuck:
"The drugs and the alcohol are symptoms of the problem. So if you abstain from the drugs or the alcohol, that's not the problem. That's how it's appearing symptomatically."
Same for gambling. Same for s*x. Same for the behavior you keep trying to white-knuckle away.
The thing that kicks the first domino over is almost always deeper.
And here is the part most people get wrong when they're trying to reach someone:
You don't logic them out. You don't talk at them until it lands
"Where I've been able to reach somebody, even in that state, has been through their emotion and their heart. It seems to override everything else. How do you feel right now? Is this where you want to be? Who's missing you right now?"
Those questions do what an argument never will.
