A little bit of a life update. Wow, I have been thinking about making this post for months. What to say, what to think, and what to feel. The rescue was my whole life for so many years. I started MAR at the age of 12. I was full of dreams, full of passion, and ready to take on the world one rescue at a time. My parents blessed me with a home where they fostered my drive and passion. They let me do what many wouldn’t at such a young age, start an animal rescue. I’m sure at times they doubted their decision haha, as what was expected to be a very small “one animal at a time,” quickly grew to being not only the biggest rabbit rescue in Utah, but at one point the only rabbit rescue in Utah. The rescue has always been a bit off and on for me since high school. There were moments where I’d organize massive dump site rescues, hoarding case aide, and more, and then months when I needed breaks in between. Running this rescue has taught me so much. It has taught me about people, finances, vet care, communication, networking, the list goes on and on. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without MAR. I am so so grateful for what I have built, and not only what I have built, but what the community has built for me. You guys have helped me save the lives of over hundreds of animals. They all got new beginnings, forever homes, and for those that were too far gone to save… they were able to know love and comfortability in their last moments.
I am now grown. I am 21 years old. The rescue isn’t active anymore besides our few long term residents ❤️ It has taken me a while to feel at peace closing this rescue. It will forever remain open in my heart, and I know without a doubt that I will never fully leave animal rescue… in fact I hope one day wether it be a few years in the future or when I’m settled down into my own home that I can reopen MAR or found a new rescue. I am currently studying at SLCC. People and animals are my biggest passion and I believe I have found my next purpose in this life. I have always wanted to do more people work, but have been immersed in the animal work. Now I am going to school to be a social worker. My associates is done but I am sticking around at the community college to get my certificates for substance abuse counselor, case manager, and behavioral health technician. I currently work at a foster care agency, and am started my internship at a substance abuse treatment center. One day I will become a listened therapist and work in equine therapy. There is power in animals, and there is power in people, I believe I have found my path in embracing both of my passions and using it to help others heal.
While MAR will not longer be active I am still paying off years of veterinary debt. I never imagined I’d be 21 with over $10,000 in debt, but here we are. When the rescue stopped accepting new surrenders the care did not stop. Up until now we always had nearly 20 rabbits still in foster homes and with me. They still had needs that were essential to meet, and with animals always comes more unexpected emergencies. With no new surrenders and no fundraisers for incoming animals our donations stopped. I have been doing my best to pay off the bill in monthly increments of $500+. It’s been a lot, but if I could I wouldn’t rewrite anything I did. Saving lives was so incredibly worth it. That debt symbolizes animals that either went on to live happy lives, or received life saving measures and proper care as an attempt to spare them more time. This is one of my last calls to the community… if I could ask everyone to band together once more to help me make a dent in this bill it would mean the world to me. Even if we were to gather just a couple hundred dollars it would bring me one step closer to putting these vet bills behind us. So please share this post, engage with it, and if you are able please donate.
I love you guys. Thank you guys again for making my dreams a reality. I am truly blessed. Below there are some pictures of me attached. They represent my childhood journey through animal activism, animal rescue, my passion for animals, my family that made this all possible, and the person I have grown into ❤️
I will be linking some of the stories done on me and the rescue in the comments. Just feeling like doing some reminiscing on the past 🥹🐰💌

Foster or adoptive home urgently needed for this sweet girl!
Wednesday is a bit shy, but warms up with patience and time. We think it would be wonderful for her to find a home with another bunny bond mate to help her come out of her shell and find a bit more confidence. She is extremely sweet, very docile and friendly once you’ve earned her trust. She is spayed, little box trained, and has never had any health issues.
Foster families will be supplied with everything needed to care for this sweet girl, we just ask for your time, space, and love.
While we would love a foster, we would prefer to place this girl in a home that has potential for adoption or is ready to adopt now!
Please reach out to us today for more info! ❤️🐰

It Is with heavy hearts that we make this update. After consulting further with our vet and talking to his adopters about his current quality of life, we’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him rest, and move forward with euthanasia. Considering the frequency of his mobility issues, our vet has told us there is a fair likelihood of him suffering from something internally that is causing his bones to be suseptable to such breaks and fractures. We are so grateful to everyone who has shared and donated, and if youd like to request your donation back in light of this news please contact us, otherwise it will be going towards helping more bunnies in need and supporting those in our care.
Hey everyone, we are devastated to have to make this post… but we urgently need your help. Noah, one of our long time residents, was recently adopted to an amazing family in Wyoming. As some of you may know, Noah has a tragic past. He has been in a few long term adoptive homes and returned for numerous reasons that were never due to any fault of his own. Everyone who’s met Noah has fallen in love with him. He is the sweetest most loving boy.
A few years back Noah suffered a trauma to his back right leg. It’s unknown what happened, but we suspect he got his leg caught in his xpen and broke it. His injury resulted in an amputation. His spirits have always remained high and he hasn’t lost his love for life.
About 2 months ago he had another strange occurrence with his mobility. We noticed he was struggled to function with his remaining back leg, we took him in immediately, got X-rays, and there was a minor blip in the X-ray. It was said it could be a sprain, minor fracture, etc. in his spine. Luckily it resolved itself and he regained full mobility and was cleared for adoption.
He had his last health check at 9am the day prior to his transport. After the transport was complete he settled in and wasn’t interacted with much while decompressing. About two days after his adoptive family called to ask about any previous issues with his front leg. They had him taken in to their vet for abnormal behavior, and lack of mobility. After doing X-rays it was found that within the time frame of being transported and settling in that he broke his front right leg. We are at a loss on what had happened within these last few days and it’s a mystery to both us and his new home, but he urgently needs help. We are desperate to see him get the happily ever after he deserves, and unfortunately this surgery is going to cost a lot in order to give him the best chance at that. Our exotic vet is hopeful they can repair it and he can make a full recovery. We need your help to accomplish this.
His adoptive family is able to help cover some surgical costs, but considering the unforeseen circumstances we need to fundraise to help cover the remainder. We are ola ning to transport him back to Utah and have our primary vet at mountain west and their surgical team perform his surgery. This surgery is going to be $4,000. We are begging you to consider sparing even a couple dollars, and if you are unable to do that, please like, comment, and share, to boost this post.
Help us give Noah his happily ever after. He deserves it.

Our rescue has experienced not one, not two, but three medical emergencies this week. I personally pay $500-$1,000 monthly to contribute to our vet bill of over $10,000, and this past week and a half has really set us back on the progress we have made with our payments. One of our long term residents is losing mobility in his back leg (potential dislocation or fracture in the spine). If his condition doesn’t improve we may have to most forward with a ct scan and surgery which could cost upwards of $7,000. One of our special needs bun who’s been with a foster family has been thriving after months of health battled, and had once again hit a fast decline in health. Lastly, we had just placed a bunny pair in a loving foster to adopt home and were urgently called to assist with one of the girls. She had suddenly crashed and was seizing. We made it to the vet in time for a catheter to be placed for an emergency euthanasia, and she passed right before they were able to administer the drugs. We are crushed over this loss, as is her family. Between emergency fees and cremation/after care we added another couple hundred to our balance.
I know we aren’t a super active or prevalent rescue in the Utah rabbit rescue community now, but just know everyday work is still being done. As we have slowed down and put a pause on intakes, we are tirelessly working to place our long term residents in forever families. Our remaining buns are almost all in their older years, or have special needs. So while we wait for their special people to come around we frequently run into medical bills for health maintenance, medications for chronic illnesses and pain, emergency fees, etc.
Thank you all for your endless support, and please consider donating if you are able to. We need your help.

Hey everyone!! We’ve got our monthly vet payment coming up. Unfortunately we have ran into some emergencies over the past couple months with some buns who have been in long term foster families. Each one has caught us off guard, and has driven our veterinary debt up. We make monthly payments ranging from $400-$500 (usually out of my own pocket) but this month we need some extra help. If we could fundraise just $500 or maybe a little bit over it would help me breathe a bit easier. These buns are a lot of work, and although we aren’t operating at the same rate that we used to we still run into emergencies, have regular vet needs, and are constantly working to keep our buns loved, healthy, and safe. Please consider donating if you are in a position to. Even a couple dollars makes a difference ❤️
