OMG! So this is known as a saddle valve , it pierces into the water line. These are designed for copper , but they are known to leak. They are def not designed for plastic line, and to make it worse , this gray pipe is known as Poly B, which is not used anymore because it’s known to wear down and be brittle. Super bad combo of plumbing one of my techs found on a house last week 🙈🤦‍♂️

This is why your supposed to have a bushing around the hole the wires go through coming into your panel! Wires run the metal lip and get nicked. This can create a short or potentially a fire ! Go check your panel today ! They make easy clip on bushings that can slip on and save you!
