What exactly is “etching” in dentistry?
Before we bond materials like composite fillings, sealants, or veneers, we often use an acidic solution—commonly phosphoric acid—to gently condition the enamel and dentin.
This creates a microscopic roughened surface that gives bonding materials something to hold onto, helping create a stronger, more durable restoration. 💪🦷
