What a great first day of school, SRCS!

Our campuses were filled with the energy and excitement of a new school year, from our TKers entering their new classrooms to seniors beginning their final year with us. Students reunited with friends, met new teachers and classmates and jumped into a year filled with learning, connection and joy.

We’re excited for all that this year will bring and grateful to our students, families, teachers and staff for making today such a wonderful beginning.

Here’s to an incredible 2026–27 school year!

This morning, we welcomed back our incredible teachers and staff at our District-wide celebration!

We kicked off the new school year with inspiring words from Board President Carolina Martin, on behalf of the entire Board; Superintendent Carmen Diaz Ghysels; SRHS senior Natalie Yax Gonzalez; and our three labor leaders, Tania Morales, Sarah Cushman and Morgan Agnew.

And, of course, the ever-popular spirit contest did not disappoint! San Rafael High, Sun Valley and Venetia Valley brought the energy and cheered their way to victory!

A huge thank-you to our host campus, Terra Linda High School, and to all of our teachers and staff for joining us. We’re ready to bring the joy and excitement into the new school year as we welcome students back tomorrow!

The Marin County Board of Education has launched a provisional appointment process to fill a vacant seat on the board for Trustee Area 2. Applications with an attached resume must be received by the Marin County Office of Education no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. Under the board-approved process, qualified applicants will be interviewed in open session at a special Board of Education meeting on Sept. 17, 2026. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, a California citizen and registered voter, a resident of Trustee Area 2, and otherwise legally qualified to hold public office. Join us for PE Field Fest: Powered By Play. United By Community.

Our SRCS community is invited to our inaugural PE Field Fest on Friday, Aug. 28 from 5-6:30 pm at the new Davidson Field to celebrate the expansion of an exciting District-wide partnership to support PE!

Designed for elementary-age children and their families, though all ages are welcome, the event includes games and activities, free Kona Ice, giveaways, raffles and a brief program at 5:30 pm. Meet your child’s PE coach and learn how your school is partnering with HeadsUp and the District to create fun, enriching physical education experiences for our elementary students.

Special thanks to HeadsUp, our elementary school parent groups and the National Academy of Athletics.

Diseñado para niños de primaria y sus familias, aunque todas las edades son bienvenidas, el evento incluye juegos y actividades, helados Kona Ice gratis, obsequios, sorteos y una breve presentación a las 5:30 de la tarde. Conoce al profesor de Educación Física de tu hijo y descubra cómo su escuela colabora con HeadsUp y el Distrito para crear experiencias de educación física divertidas y enriquecedoras para nuestros alumnos de primaria.

Happy Last Day of School, SRCS!

This week across the District, we're in the midst of celebrating promotions and graduations, opportunities to honor the hard work and growth of our remarkable students as they advance to new challenges and opportunities. Thank you to all in our greater SRCS community who helped make these moments possible!

We especially extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2026! Your accomplishments fill us with pride, and we can’t wait to see what comes next in your journey. Our ceremonies officially began yesterday with Madrone High School. Madrone’s graduates have each traveled a unique path, demonstrating resilience, determination and a commitment to achieving their goals. Their success is a testament to the strength of our students, families and educators, and we are proud to celebrate this milestone with them as they embark on their next chapter.

Davidson Middle School came alive with color and creativity during its "Vibe Check" Spring Art Exhibit, featuring an impressive display of student artwork from across all grade levels. This year’s vibrant poster (pictured) was designed using artwork by eighth grader Kira Shoup, capturing the energy and spirit of the showcase.

The Thursday evening opening night welcomed families and community members for a fun event with snacks, giant bubbles and, of course, the cool and unique pieces created by the talented students. The exhibit remained open on Friday before and after school, giving Davidson students time to check out and celebrate each other’s work.

Beyond the art show, creativity continues to take shape on campus as students are also working on beautiful hallway murals. One of the murals was by eighth grader Audrey Shelton (pictured).
