Absolute Volleyball Club

We are so excited to announce our amazing 2027 18 Pink coaches — Head Coach Greg Ginsburg and Assistant Coach Vanna Marquez!

Greg brings over 30 years of coaching experience, including securing bids in the 13s, 14s, 17s, & 18s age groups. A former club volleyball player at UC Berkeley, he transitioned from a high school basketball career where he earned all-league and all-CIF honors. Greg led the 2025 13 Pink team to finishing 8th in the region and earning a USA bid.

Vanna returns to AVC for her 8th year. Her recent coaching highlights include helping the 2025 17 White team finish in the Gold Division in the NCVA, helping the 17 Pink team earn a National Bid with a 3rd-place regional finish in 2022-2023 and assisting the 16 Pink team to top finishes in 2023-2024, including 1st place at President’s Day and the Pacific Northwest Qualifier, securing a Liberty Bid. As a player, Vanna was a Libero and Setter at Merrill F. West High School. She played Division 2 PAC12 volleyball for four years, finishing top 5 in conference for digs and aces in 2022.

We are so excited to announce our amazing 2027 18 Black coaches — Head Coach Tom Amberg and Assistant Coach Amanda Ilgunas!

Tom played Division I volleyball at UCLA, earning 2012 AVCA First Team All-American honors and ranking top in multiple program records including blocks and hitting percentage. He competed internationally with the USA Men’s National Team at the 2011 World University Games and 2009 U-21 World Championships and played professionally in Paris for three seasons. As a coach, Tom has led his 2025 18 Black team to a 3rd place finish in the National Division and his 2026 18 Black team to earning a USAV GJNC Open Bid.

Amanda brings 16 years of coaching experience and is a coach at Branson High School. She has led teams such as 15 Black, 18 Pink, and 18 Black to over 12 Open bids, 5 National bids, 1 USA, and 2 American finishes. As a player, Amanda was a Libero at Notre Dame Academy High School, earning First Team All-League honors and helping lead her team to a CIF Division III Championship. She continued her volleyball career at UCSB, playing Division 1 and club volleyball, where she was named MVP of UCSB Girl’s Club Volleyball in 2010. Amanda helped lead her 2025 18 Black team to 3rd place finish in the National Division at the GJNC and her 2026 18 Black team to qualifying for USAV GJNC in the Open Division.

📣 Calling all 3rd to 8th Graders 📣

Our Pre-Tryout Clinics are for ALL athletes who will be trying out in the 9s–14s age groups in October. Players will be grouped by ability and experience to ensure the best possible learning opportunities. Each clinic will have a specific focus for the day, and the last 30 minutes will include gameplay focused on the skill set of that day.

WE WILL WORK ON SERVING EVERY SESSION, so you can walk away mastering the serving skills for your CYO season too!
