Fusion Academy Marin in San Rafael, CA opened in 2014 as Fusion’s 15th campus nationwide. Fusion Marin is a private school where classes are one-to-one: one student and one teacher per classroom. Our Teacher/Mentors can personalize curriculum and pacing for their students’ strengths, interests, and learning style. Students may attend full-time for middle and high school or part-time with classes for credit, tutoring and mentoring, post-secondary counseling, and more. We offer rolling enrollment so students can start at any point, even mid-semester or mid-year.
Math classes at most schools are designed for the average learner. And for K, numbers felt overwhelming — the pace, the pressure, all of it.
For K, 1-to-1 learning at Fusion Academy is changing everything. Because when a teacher can slow down, explain in a way that clicks, and build her confidence step by step, her grades improve, her understanding deepens, and the anxiety melts away.

In conventional schools, motivation often comes from external pressure — grades, competition, fear. But that kind of motivation is fragile. It exhausts students. 🥺
Real motivation comes from something else: knowing you have support. Knowing you can ask for help without judgment. Knowing someone is paying attention to whether you're actually succeeding.
When a student feels that, they stop pushing through obstacles and start solving them. And focus becomes possible.
A parent looks at their son, terrified of school, disheartened by education, and can't imagine how he'll make it four more years.
Then he finds a place that gets him. That wants to know all the interesting, quirky stuff he's thinking about.
The relief a parent feels in that moment — when their child is no longer just surviving school but actually belonging — is indescribable 💜

When a student struggles in traditional school, the blame usually falls on the student. Lazy. Unmotivated. Not trying hard enough. 😵💫
But what if the problem isn't the student? What if it's that the system was never designed for how they learn? One lesson, one pace, 30 kids — that's efficient. But it's not effective for every learner.
At Fusion, we built something different. One teacher, one student, one approach tailored to how that specific student learns. And everything changes.
Getting a diagnosis for your child can feel like relief and uncertainty at the same time.
Relief because finally, you understand why traditional school isn't working. It's not laziness. It's not attitude. She learns differently.
But uncertainty because knowing your child learns differently doesn't automatically tell you what environment will work. That's the second piece. And it's just as important as the diagnosis.

Belonging changes everything. When a student feels seen, known, and accepted for who they are - something shifts. They show up differently. They take risks. They begin to believe there is a place for them.

For 11 years at Barnstable Academy, Jeff has been doing something rare: he's built a classroom where curiosity is contagious. Students leave his STEM classes still buzzing about experiments and discoveries.
But Jeff's impact ripples far beyond his classroom. He opens his door to colleagues. Leads professional development. Mentors teachers. Organizes the school events. And after the bell rings? He's hosting game nights, building community.

🌮✨ First week of school at Fusion Academy Marin = officially in the books! ✨🎉
We kicked off the year by coming together around the table for a Taco Bar lunch 🌮 and giving our students a chance to connect, catch up, and build community.
Then it was time for our Club Fair! 🎨🎮📚🎵 Students explored this year’s clubs and found opportunities to meet new people, try something new, or dive even deeper into something they already love.
We’re so excited for a year filled with connection, curiosity, belonging, and plenty of opportunities for our students to find their people and their thing. 💙

🎓✨ A few weeks ago, we celebrated an incredible milestone at Fusion Academy Marin — our graduation and 8th grade promotion ceremony!
There is nothing more rewarding than watching our students walk across that stage and knowing the journey it took to get there. Every student has a unique story, and seeing their confidence, growth, and accomplishments shine is why we do what we do. 💜
