For all the Bio- Tech people from San Francisco area who follow me, this one is for you … “ On Top, Mt. Tam”, a 40 x 60 oil on linen. With the lush texture of thickly applied paint, this big one rewards the view up close or from a distance. The scale of it allows you to feel like you have hiked up with me. The longer you look stand before the actual painting, the more real it feels.

“Elegy for the Family Farm” 9 x 12 oil on linen panel, an old farm house on the Main Road of the North Fork on Long Island. I was born and raised on Long Island, and in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s I could walk to a farm near my house to feed the cows . Little by little the farms, farmhouses, and barns succumbed to the wrecking ball, and housing developments sprang up in their place .
That’s why I paint these scenes. I’ve watched for many years as this particular farmhouse slowly falls down. Not much time left now…

I’ve been painting Long Island for over 30 years, and some places have appeared many times over the decades. This is Zach’s Bay at TOBAY Beach, one of my absolute favorite spots. “ Sunset, Low Tide”, 36 x 48 oil on linen.

My scientist son asked me to paint this for him. “ Nobel Corn”, 16 x 12 oil on linen panel, depicts Nobel Laureate Barbara McClintock’s hands holding maize used in her research leading to the discovery of “ jumping genes”. Dr McClintock won the Nobel Prize in 1983, and was a research scientist at world renowned Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory .
