🏀 Another epic Hoop for Change event - this time in Oakland! 🎉

Huge thanks to Anton Lyons for drawing up the perfect playbook, managing the court, and throwing the ultimate assist to make this event a slam dunk! 🏆

This event marked our soft kickoff into Alameda County, and the energy in that gym was electric. Families came together, competitors showed out from the free-throw and three-point line, and every shot taken was a step toward funding scholarships for students who need it most. This is what community looks like.

None of this happens without the right people in our corner:

🙌 Thank you to AYG and Britnea Moore for the partnership and collaboration that made this vision a reality.

🎤 Thank you to our MC, Ari Waller the Voice of the Valkyries — you were simply exceptional. The energy you brought elevated the entire room. You made everyone feel special and part of the event.

🏆 Thank you to two-time European gold medalist and former WNBA Sacramento Monarch, Ruthie Bolton your passion and presence hyped up the entire gym. We were honored to have you with us.

🙌🏾 Congratulations to Faatimah A Founder & CEO of the Women’s Premier Basketball Association, for winning our 3-point contest and repping Oakland to the fullest.

And to our incredible sponsors, Veronne J. Clark for your partnership and belief in our work, and the Golden State Community Foundation Poppy Bank Comerica Bank and Peregrine thank you for believing in this mission and making it possible. To our amazing Board and Advisory Board members Deborah Goldman Vanessa Holton Tania Z. Garcia thank you for your steadfast dedication to our students. And to Jerome Palencia for your great work capturing the moment.

This is only the beginning for Hoop For Change in the Bay. Stay tuned. 👀
