April 30 ILS Welcomes Novella Carpenter
Journalist and urban farmer speaks as part of the 2014 Institute for Leadership Studies (ILS) Spring Leadership Lecture Series. Carpenter will appear at the free event in conversation with KQED “Forum” host Michael Krasny to discuss Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer. It reflects on her experiences creating a garden in a run-down neighborhood a mile from downtown Oakland. Doors open in Angelico Hall at 6 p.m. The program starts at 7 p.m.

Allende returns to leadership lecture series Feb. 6 — Dominican University of California Allende will present her latest novel, Ripper, an atmospheric, fast-paced mystery involving a brilliant teenage sleuth who must unmask a serial killer in San Francisco.
