Tonight, I attended "Wildfires and Climate Change in Californi.a" Dr. Daniel Swain presented Wildfires and Climate Change in California. Dr. Swain's presentation was both enlightening and sobering, highlighting the intricate relationship between climate change and the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires in California. He discussed the pivotal role that rising temperatures and prolonged droughts play in creating conditions ripe for wildfires, and how urban planning and policy changes can mitigate some of these effects. The discussion emphasized the urgent need for collective action to address climate change and implement sustainable practices to protect our communities and ecosystems. Overall, it was a powerful reminder of the challenges we face and the importance of continued research and dialogue in finding solutions. his research on climate and wildfire with a special emphasis on what we can learn from the recent LA fires.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Leila and I went to the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce's holiday party and then joined Assemblymember Damon Connolly at the DCCM holiday bash. Karen Strolia, President & CEO of the San Rafael Chamber got everyone into the holiday spirit. The evening was filled with festive cheer, laughter, and great conversations with local leaders and community members. The decorations were stunning, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We enjoyed delicious food and drinks while networking with other attendees. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season, connect with new friends, and strengthen our ties within the community. A big thank you to everyone who made the night so special!

“I’d like to thank everyone in District 2, throughout Marin County and beyond who supported my campaign by donating, canvassing, placing a lawn sign, writing letters to the editor, and spreading the word one voter at a time,” Colbert said in an email [to Marin IJ] Thursday. “I would especially like to thank my youth volunteers who brought great energy and enthusiasm to tabling and canvassing.”

“Together we spoke to tens of thousands of voters in the District over the last year and half and my positive vision for Marin’s future clearly resonated with the voters,” he wrote. “I am truly honored and I look forward to serving the people of Marin.”

NOVEMBER 13 UPDATE

The county has posted the latest results at the below link. The county has counted almost 22,000 votes. At the moment, I hold a 2.1% lead over my opponent with approximately 19% total number of votes left to be counted countywide. I remain cautiously optimistic that my lead will continue to hold.

Today, Monday, November 11, I attended the Veterans’ Day Ceremony presented by the Marin Cultural Association and Marin County Department of Cultural Services at Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium, San Rafael CA. Colonel Luke R. Donohue (U.S. Army-retired) was the keynote speaker for Marin County’s annual Veterans Day ceremony inside Exhibit Hall. Sean Stephens, County Veterans Service Officer was the Master of Ceremonies. Joe Garbarino, co-founder of Marin Sanitary Service, received an award recognizing his support for veterans. The event was a heartfelt tribute to the brave individuals who have served our country. Colonel Donohue's speech was both inspiring and moving, highlighting the sacrifices and dedication of our veterans. The ceremony included a beautiful presentation of colors, and local community leaders joined in to pay their respects. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of honoring those who have served and our ongoing commitment to support them. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event a meaningful tribute to our veterans.
