MAPE represents 1,500 Marin County workers – from 911 operators and nurses to parks and road crews.

As contract talks continue, one issue stands out: unlike firefighters and deputy sheriffs, many MAPE members don’t earn overtime for all extra hours worked. If they use sick leave or vacation in the same week, those hours don’t count toward overtime.

This video features Erick Morales, a Marin County Parks worker who logged long hours during a wildland fire, was exposed to poison oak, missed two days of work — and saw many of his extra hours paid at straight time.
