George Tilesch is leading a workshop today at the Technology and Defence Conference by VIKI - Defence Innovation Research Institute of Hungary in Budapest. The session dives into the practical realities of AI adoption in defence — what is truly deployable, where organisations struggle, and which overlooked frictions often decide success or failure.
Using scenario-driven questions, the workshop helps participants explore capability integration across domains, recognise critical failure modes, and understand how doctrine, procurement and training shape real-world outcomes.

The seminar, "Artificial Intelligence in the Balance," convened by this world-renowned think tank, brought together distinguished experts across disciplines – AI specialists, senior attorneys, natural scientists, political advisors, and tech platform executives from across Central and Eastern Europe. The discussions expertly structured by the Aspen Institute focused on three critical areas:
