Parents who are out of the country at the time of revocation and need to return to the U.S. may apply at the nearest U.S. Embassy or consulate for a limited emergency passport.

How does child support work for you? Every state has a program and employees to help you navigate core services to help you receive the support you need for a child. These services are for parents or legal guardians to help with the costs of raising a child. The main services provided by child support program include:
Finding the other parent – Working with you and other agencies to find the other parent using information like date of birth and Social Security number.
Establishing paternity (also known as parentage) – Using a process to determine a child’s legal parent. Child support programs can provide forms to sign if the parents agree, schedule genetic testing, or use a legal procedure to determine parentage.
Setting up child support orders – Deciding how much money a parent should pay for a child's financial support using child support guidelines, income information, and other factors
Keeping payment records – Using a system to keep a record of payments due and paid.
Enforcing support orders – Taking steps to collect money due. This includes withholding from paychecks, intercepting tax refunds, and other tools allowed by law.
