🦭 Many of you may know our SSC Marine Mammal Rescue team for their dedicated wildlife conservation efforts along our coastline, or perhaps you've participated in one of their public programs such as Wildlife Kayak Tours, Isles of Shoals Trips, or Seal Walks. However, their work extends beyond these activities. The team also engages in outreach and educational initiatives within the community. Last month, they collaborated with two middle schools in New Hampshire to provide 7th and 8th graders with a hands-on outdoor learning experience in the Hampton-Seabrook Estuary. For many students, this marked their first time kayaking, and for some, it was their inaugural visit to the estuary. 🚣

🎉 To wrap up NH Gives, we are excited to share that Seacoast Science Center (SSC) has enhanced accessibility for individuals of all abilities by introducing a new adaptive all-terrain wheelchair, allowing all to explore the trails, shoreline, and natural landscapes of Odiorne Point State Park. This wheelchair is available free of charge to visitors and members, thanks to a generous grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
This week, SSC staff and board, alongside partners from Northeast Passage and The Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth, gathered to celebrate this new offering with a ribbon, or kelp, cutting. This small event symbolized the start of a new season where everyone will have the opportunity to experience the beauty and educational opportunities we provide in the Park thanks to the support of our community.
